I just fished for an hour & made $9,555. I have 310 fishing as well. So, I say fishing prices need a boost. +1
Fishing is kind of like melon farming. you are "Printing" or "Spawning" money into the economy, unlike mining, which has a finite amount of materials due to the boundaries of the worlds. I believe its important to keep infinite sources such as fishing and farming prices lower than the finite sources, if that makes sense. After all, there is a reason that the $50/fish nerf took place. Doubling the price of fish in my opinion would cause a problem. -1
So your saying that it should make 9k and hour because it spawns money into the enconomy but so does melon and pumpkin farming and they make way more, keep in mine this is with a tool that cost around 800k and in my opinion takes a tad more attention then melon farming and makes less then a tool that also spawns money in to the economy that you can get for 10k.
I'm going to have to -1 this unfortunately, despite how much I'd love for it to happen. Similar to all the mega-nerfs last year in farming a lot of the problems for this money-making method ties with McMMo. Me having been lazy and jumped up to 1000 as if by magic it is incredibly apparent the difference in XP received between lower to higher level fishing. The major difference there is that the XP/fish ratio is dramatically increased. Where in the beginning you rarely break 10 XP/fish at 1000 fishing you receive anywhere between 10-25 XP/fish. Bumping the usual grand total of XP up to around 8k XP/hour. So even assuming you sell the XP at 1$/orb you still maintain about 13.5k/h. Which during the current XP market such a rate is easily obtainable if not more. I hate to burst the price increase bubble, I really really do as I'd enjoy it too. On a side note, I disagree with the less effort for fishing theory. I find that while playing ECC I tend to be paying attention to the game for the most part, the sole difference in effort for me is that while fishing I have the chance to chat without breaching the integrity of my $$/hour.
+100000 i am saving for a star rod and have 900 stars but to see it makes as less than i could make pumpkin axing with speed makes me quite sad especially since it costs like 50 times more than the axe
The pricing is a bit off in my opinion. What I would suggest is taking the $9,000 and multiplying it by a percentage to get to a certain price such as increase each one by 50%. This would make you 13.5k an hour if you increase each fish sell price by 50% a fish so the normal raw fish would go from $10 - $15. A $20 fish would go from $20 - $30. As for the Exp. It would stay the same. How does this sound @Revanrose6 ? Also @sitomo how do you manage to make 13.5k an hour? And @Joseph01234 How much do you make with 1000 fishing? EDIT: Maybe a 25% increase would be better due to the fact that Joseph makes 13.5k an hour with 1000 fishing.
i think this needs to be put in, fishing is one of the hardest skills to level so most people don't have 1000 fishing or even close to it (you could probably count 1000 fishers on 2 hands) so not that many people are making the 13.5k @Joseph01234 quoted. I have fishing of around 400 and i made around 10.5k so i think maybe a 25% increase would be good (round down if needed) like donkey said. This would at least put it on par with other star tools. Earlier someone mentioned how fishing should make less due to how it "spawns" money into the economy. In all honesty what method doesn't just spawn money into the economy, flipping tools? While mining may have a 'finite' ammount of minerals, there is still a plethora for everyone to go around and even when they start to run low we get a mining reset (spawning money into the economy ?)
I believe my fishing is below level 10.. I hate this skill, especially because of the amount of money you make. It is just not worth it.
-1 Just like every other 'crop', you have to go by the highest amount attainable. And if a player is making the amount that is in line with what is expected, then no adjustment is needed. Even if only one person is making that amount.
Let's correct some assumptions you all make, firstly fishing level does not matter to the amount of fish caught. Secondly after selling the experience earned a Star Rod makes 15-16k/hr, 9k being from fish alone. Now As for making that original fish 20$, that would partially make fishing more profitable but not very much so. Currently the most profitable use of the fishing skill is using fishing rods on mobs for heads, actually fishing you could make more doing almost anything else.
The mcmmo fishing level does not increase the amount of fish caught, rather increases the exp gained from each fish.
No it does nothing of the sort, I have the most experience on ECC of fishing out of everyone and it is save for me to say experience gains from fishing have been the same for me since exp from fishing was introduced.
It's changed in a more recent-ish change with fishing, I'm not entirely sure what the average is fishing in vanilla, however you receive 10-25 xp per fish caught with 1000 fishing, which would be strange for a vanilla amount.
That is the amount is basically how it has always been, might have changed a bit after we lost the exp gained and got it back but that is what I remember it being.
@Netsui I would be curious how you arrived at this 16k/hour. I fish as my main source of income an I've never topped 11.5k/hour. If you could show how you got to your number I would appreciate it. Maybe i've just been doing it wrong all this time
