Lol I'm sorry man but this isn't going to make you rich at all. It takes forever to harvest soul sand. (I have TONS of experience). And the amount of time and money you will have to invest would honestly be about equal to that of obtaining a melon sword with 1000 nstars (the effort and money would go to gathering nstars, instead of building and buying blocks and space for a giant farm). I hate to burst your bubble, but this isn't the next "Get rich quick" scheme at all, it's just like any other kind of farming. And actually, you'll either lose a lot of money, or waste a lot of time, with this whole thing when you could just buy perms and farm wheat, carrots, or potatoes (with fortune) and make MORE money per hour anyway. Sorry.

    - I have spent 280k for resident, mayor, and president, 75k for a town portal, and about 315k for a melon sword, and have 30k in my balance right now (totalling over 700k, not to mention over 50k lost in scams and probably another 150k on farm materials). I think I know what I'm talking about.

    - Also, it may be helpful to know that I made the money for a melon sword by farming wheat with a fortune 3 pickaxe, which is one of the most profitable jobs in the game without a melon sword.

And I should also point out, your math is very wrong.

    200x200 = 40,000
Average netherwart dropped from 1 plant with fortune 3 is 4.5 (you can look this up to verify), - 1 to replant for each, so 3.5 average
    .6 (60 cents) x 40,000 x 3.5 = 84,000

without fly, this will take around 12 hours to do completely, and even with fly you won't be able to do it in under 8 hours. But stoppages for breaks will increase it to about 15 hours without fly, and 10 hours with it. So...

    84,000/15 = 5,600/hour
    84,000/10 = 8,400/hour

Even if you don't stop at all for any sort of pause, it'd be at least 8 hours, so...
    84,000/8 = 10,500/hour

So with fly, you'll average about 8,400/hour, which can be done with a wheat farm that's 20x40 15 stories (which is what I had to make money for my melon sword, and I made about 8,500/hour)

But you need to remember that fly costs about 350,000 ecodollars (when buying a giftcard at 5,000/usd), so that would be enough money for a melon sword anyway. And melon swords make about 12,000/hour - 15,000/hour for most people (I know this with experience)

So all in all, you could spend 350k on your farm and make AT MOST 10,500/hour (not to mention the 85k to buy your land and the 20 or more hours of work to make it), or you could spend 320k on a melon sword and buy 10k perms to someone else's farm to make 12k/hour - 15k/hour.

    It's your choice :)

hey, its fun trying to make money with your own ideas. I think you should go for it. its not always about making the most money per hour, its about having a good time too.

one thing jvhosmuffin forgot is that if you build a farm, you can sell perms to the farm for extra cash.

Yeah selling perms would be a very good idea. You could make 40k - 50k in a week doing that, if you were on often enough to sell. And yes, tanstaafl, the fun of it IS building the farm :p So I'll admit, as far as money goes, it's not anything new in the largeness of profit, but the fun you would have doing it might be more than farming melons for hours :) So that's a fair point

    1. Recommendation: Wheat/Melon/Pumpkin
    2. I personally think that this is not going to make you that much money. Entertainment will not work in this type or project. This gives you less money and Selling perms is not going to work that good. People recommend pumpkin farm and Nether Wart is not what people are going to buy perms for. So raising the bar will be needed. Anyways, I think you chose nether wart so you can escape the extra fees of glowstone that costs a whole lot. A 200x200 WHOLE Nether wart farm, not really a good idea.
    3. Well, the price of crops are getting nerfed now. And nether wart is already really low. So if Nether warts get nerfed, your project had give you a lower profit. Some people DO NOT USE FORTUNE. So this will lower down the profit. So I think you should not go on.
    4. I think your trying to get people to build for you >_<

While I am not a millionare, I am one of the richer people on the server and within the top 35 richest users on the server.

I have managed to farm about 500k ECD last month, and going up as we speak. This is a great idea, however as stated you will need panels, and for netherwart you need fly ASAP, as it will speed up your earnings. Good investment, and I possibly may buy a few shares.

I bought a share, put me down on the list. And I'll probably buy more after I see how well it does in it's first week.

I am personally building a 200x200x30 farm which I don't plan on using myself. Instead I am selling perms for 100k ish once complete. I suggest you sell perms to your town.

What jvho's also failed to mention :p is the fact that I would indeed buy netherwart from you above the server price.
That would increase your profits a bit, as I'm going to need a lot of netherwart, going to be brewing some potions soon.

Alright first and foremost, your tests are simply wrong. Anyone can use a fortune 3 tool and see that it's 3 to 4.5. Seriously. You aren't fooling anyone. That's just wrong, it's not 6-10. If it were 6-10 (average of 8), that'd be .6 times 7 (you have to replant 1) = $4.2 per netherwart harvested, and that's just plain wrong. It's 3 - 4.5, average of 3.75, so that it's about the same as wheat or potatos or carrots. All of the replant-crops are meant to be about the same in value, because netherwart, carrots, and potatos are all affected exactly the same way with fortune 3. And you can say I'm wrong, but anyone can go out with a fortune 3 tool and see for themselves what the numbers are. I'm only trying to give you advice dude. Also, it's not "easy to harvest" - it's literally the only crop that could be considered "hard to harvest", as you go much slower harvesting netherwart than anything else (you either go slowly walking on soul sand, or you can build another path that has a regular walking speed, but you will inevitably be farther from the netherwart you're trying to plant/harvest, so it will be more difficult to reach it and maneuver, and it WILL make you go slower. Trust me, I've done it before. You can try for yourself if you don't believe me).

And Jason1964: That's fine, but you aren't going to be buying thousands of nethwarts. You might buy 50, maybe 100, but probably not more than 500 a week. He's trying to produce over 10,000 netherwarts an hour. So unless you want to buy that many, the extra profit from selling to you will be so insignificant that it won't really matter. Also, many other users farm netherwart - it's a very competitive market. But, still, if you want to buy nethwart from him, that's perfectly fine.

Believe it or not 500 a week is going to be about the least I'm going to buy.

500 times 3 (using potions) only makes 1,500 awkward potions.

I'm trying to run a business, and while we are hopefully planning to farm most, I'm not sure how high the demands for potions will be. There's not really anyone else making potions right now.

We should be ready to open by tomorrow at the latest.
