Shoot, I had a pretty decent rod that I gave away. In any case, while treasure did seem to add a little more fun to fishing, it's already fairly profitable and effortless. I can cast a rod, go and pirate some music- er I mean um, check Facebook- and then come back and claim my catch in no time. It's far less tedious than farming and mining so it shouldn't be as profitable. It'd be great to be reinstated but it's not necessarily needed right now and for that, -1
@steveshizzle if not now then when? why delay it if there is no need, and i would argue fishing requires constant attention seeing as how if you don't click at the exact moment, the fish is gone. It might require more attention that mining the ores don't move or go away after a certain time
With tables and towers there is not need for that. Also one reason why I wouldn't want treasures is that most treasures were trash, leather armor and stone tools, I know the higher the level the better loot "sometimes" but I would prefer a fish over any random crappy treasure. You are more likely to lose money per hour adding treasures back. And if you use the argument for e-books that is only because many people hate the new enchanting system and wish that enchanting things could be cheap again, but I have news this is a hardcore economy things should not be easy or cheap.
@HCPillarofFire well while you might be getting leather armor and stone tools i got enchanted items (rods ebooks...) that would usually resell for good money. and my my treasure hunter rank has only gone up to 4/8 since then. While the best fish only pays 25$, most of the gear i caught was worth atleast several hundred if not more. (i caught several max rods worth about 15k each).
Yes I used to get max rods as well and that is also partly why it was disabled. It was giving too many enchanted items thus inflating them at a ridiculous pace. I have a double chests of fishing rods from this, and two double chests of ebooks. But that was my point with my comment in my previous post people want easy money and having this on will give it to them. If somehow rods and ebooks could be turned off I might consider this so long as the drops I also got were not just crap armor and tools, but more ingots maybe like emerald where the influx with them would not harm the economy not so much though that emeralds would be amassed either and go stagnant like diamonds. Another thing I feel that should be considered is that fishing is pretty effortless even more so than melon farming (which I hate btw). Why should we be able to make more with fishing than with other jobs that take more effort and time and focus. You said you have to pay attention to the fish biting, well this is not true anymore if you just use a table or tower. I understand the allure to get these items back so that people can make quick easy money, but remember you have to think of the long term before you selfishly think of the short term. Playing the fence, I would be up for them to be turned back on if the drop rates were extremely nerfed and there was a guarantee that I would not be losing money per hour by adding crap items.
