I'm going to look in to this deeper. Hey Jamie from your expertise, what is the primary area which causes the lag? Is it the number of signs in one location? Also if this plugin was developed independently, what are some of the guidelines in which plugins are considered for integration into ECC?
Im sorry but I have to disagree.... how much more lag will a simple center or wall that has signs on it add? People are building full 200x200 towns that include shops and plenty of signs and thats fine, yet when I suggest a center or wall with signs thats suddenly too much lag? Im sorry but I do not understand this. I also don't really see how a plugin is necessary at all to be honest. Ill honest, I don't know much about plugins so you could be right but the way I view it, Its quite simple really. I won't re-explain everything again because it has already been stated in detail in previous comments above, but its just letting users place signs.... no plugin needed for that. Also, I see this with almost every suggestion. Every good idea is praised by a lot of players but then shot down by an admin. While we appreciate your honest advice, how about trying to find ways to make it happen instead of looking for problems? I know shooting it down might not be your intention but thats certainly the way it comes off as, at least to me.
A sign wall, constantly changing, updating entities, per a list on a database in the server, quite a lot more.
Entities, and rapidly checking a database, as well as changing the signs over a time period. Custom plugins are required to submit source to Phys/Jakey for review.
