If the tax is spent on something incredibly awesome like a massive 200x200 minerun that's prescheduled, I'd pay a .5% tax, but think about all the transactions per day >_> That'd be quite a bit of money....... One day andrew sent all the lotto tax money to himself and got like one million dollars within a day, so I'd imagine that we'd get enough for a minerun every week if it costed 1 million ecd. Just a suggestion to add to your suggestion :| I like the idea of using "tax money" to get services that benefit us all. This would also make Netherstars the bitcoins of Minecraft +1 if used for server activities.
I would be interested in this as a way for builders or anyone to buy plots You join town x and type /taxjoin towns then everything you buy you pay 1-5% extra that goes to a pool the mayors of the town can access That way you could give away plots and charge a small tax to the player and they could return a small amount of money Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Also I'm all for this if say every month Andrew did a super lotto where everyone got one ticket and like 100k of tax money was given back to the one player who wins Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
And finally I'm for this as just a tax in general here in bc Canada we have 12% tax on just about everything and this is a HARDCORE economy server after all Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Here in Singapore its 7% I believe that a 5% would be cool so that it could be saved for mineruns. With trade signs lets say you make it cost $1000 but the price taken from the user will be 1020 incl. tax This is a cool idea and I think that it can be made.
Then why is there lottery tax and people even want to increase the lottery tax to 20% as well. That tax does not do anything but take money out of the economy
When items are taxed, the money goes to the government for them to spend. There is no "government" on ECC, so there would be no reason to regularly tax people. Yes, it would make it more realistic, but I believe it would do more harm than good due to players being upset.
The government is Andrew and the events he hosts And it is a HARDCORE economy server.. If he wanted he could use the money generated from the tax to host events rather tha just spawning items Or more likely he will just say he doing that and spawn items anyways Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
We'll have to end up paying more money for something, so -1. But on a realistic level, +1. I'm in the middle.
I see your point but, that would be more fromt the server. Realistically, the user to user trades are in real life the "Black Market" because there is no moderation to the deal. This could work if you are buying from the server to make it more realistic but that would become very difficult but, I do see your intentions on this. If it was buying from the server only, +1 so I'll give it +1/2 for the effort.
You're only paying like 1% more :| 1k every 100k is negligible I'd love to see this happen where we get a minerun every million tax dollars collected or so.
I actually love this idea. Tax would really help skim money off the economy, which is needed. While yes, tradesigns can be used to get around this, the /pay command wouldn't become extinct. It just might not be used in large transactions. This would make things more realistic (there is no debate to that, taxes are used in real life, that automatically makes them realistic if we use them). We already have a tax on the lottery. Why does no one complain about that? (Well actually they do) That money just vanishes. Goes nowhere. Why would /pay tax money have to go anywhere? No one complains that lottery tax goes nowhere and funds nothing. All I see on this thread are a bunch of people going "-1" and then leaving. Ryan said there's no reason to tax since money goes nowhere. But lottery is taxed and the money goes nowhere. We don't have to use the money for something, but we can. I really want to see more discussion on this, because right now it's a bunch of people unhappy that they have to "pay more money" when they don't want to. Not even saying anything of the benefits/bad things.
A nice "realistic" form of taxing for ECC would be a tax on goods. This would be goods sold by the server in the server shops. For example, you could be 256 blocks of dirt for $64 dollars and then it would automatically take out %5 of your purchase, and the final charge would be $67.20. This form of taxation would be less invasive, small, and give a more realistic feel to the economy. It definitely reinforce the hardcore aspect, too. I personally don't mind this type of taxing and think it would be neat. I wouldn't put the money back into the economy, though. If you keep it out of the economy, it slows down inflation.
-1 I understand where you're coming from here, but who the heck would want to pay taxes? As adults your expected to pay taxes, don't let that bring that into gaming experience.
I expect and enjoy paying taxed IRL for one specific reason.. And that's cause if I'm paying taxes I'm making money Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I like the idea, and I think it is a good one. The main problem I have with it is trade signs, and other things as such. It would be nearly impossible to do it through trade signs, and I don't think its worth bothering KHobs to code, to have a little tax. Also, prices on Eff7's and other expensive tools/towns will go up. As for donation features, those prices will go up, causing less donation to be sold, and less total money donated to ECC.
