[Suggestion] Purge

By my logic I meant that someone else agreed with me that the idea wasnt worth it and stupid in ways

 

why would you suggest a purge,

this will mess up the economy on this server.

 

I'm afraid I kind of have to agree with Nirnir on this one.

While a purge would be a lot of fun for some people, being able to destroy all their neighbors stuff, go around, blow up Ike's town. Steal stuff, ect. It's really not worth it.

The amount of rollback would take a long time for a start.


Even if it were only one day, that's an entire day of what? Builders logging on, seeing a madhouse, and leaving? Blocking off builders? Hah, we'd lose an entire day of new builders. That's probably quite a few.

While some would find it fun, it would be a pain for people like me. Ka-put, a whole day of work down the drain. I was gonna build my farm/house/ect today, but i can't. It'll be rolledback at the end of the day. So i have to wait a whole day to start out on my plans.


It also serves no point. This is an economy server, mainly economy. While purge would be fun, it disrupts an entire day of normal trade, building, and farming. I can't make any money during the purge. It'll get rolled back.


Sounds fun, but has serious drawbacks. I can't say I'm going to +1 this suggestion.

I'm not sure what your referring to, but if you read my post, I noted many drawbacks to this idea/why it cannot be used, even if it's fun.

 

I agree it may be fun, but the side affects such as andrew having to do a large rollback may not be worth it

I'm actually not entirely sure how long such a rollback would take. If it were three days, I could assume a bit of time.

After three days sometimes key files get deleted due to old age, such as logblock. I assume if you griefed big time before the Purge, you might not be found out.

Even if it was one day, all the rule breaking just before the purge might need to be dealt with, and if you griefed before the purge, it might make it hard for staff to track you down/catch you.

 

Also what joker said about the rollback and how it would reset balance too, what would happen if you won the lotto and got a ton of money, but lose it do to the whole server rollbacking, assuming I understand the concept correctly.

 

If there's a server rollback basically it's like history got wiped.


You don't have that 50k from the lotto because...you never won that lotto. History basically gets deleted.


No matter what you did during the purge, anything you can imagine, would never have happened once the rollback happened.
