What I saw in ALL your replies, I see that this suggestion is bad because you can't get money off it, well, if you had read my suggestion, it said that you can trade your gems for EcoDollars.
Well from your comments, I see you are suggesting these gems become the new currency. However trading these "gems" for ECD is utterly pointless. It would be too much work, when we could keep it simple and not change it. It seems to be working fine the way it is now. What I think we are trying to get at is: Why fix something that isn't broken.
You're creating a whole new currency for the sole purpose of doing things you can already do with EcoDollars ( You can buy kits with EcoDollars from other users)
He is suggesting that they become "a" new currency. Not to mention, trading these gems for ECD wouldn't be utterly pointless. That's exactly how nstars work when you vote. You can keep them to buy nstar specific items, or use sell them for cash. Adding an addition currency that works specifically for the SG's would allow for new tweaks and additions to our SG system. As for the buffs, you could spend the "gems" before each round starts to start the round with regular unenchanted gear. This would still allow for kits to serve their "purpose". Lastly, our SG's are plenty broken, but that's for another thread.
Thank you for clarifying this, t_bone. This makes much more sense, however I personally think it would still be a draw back. And I do realize that debates are not won by opinions, so we should start to consider how this would effect the economy. There is really no telling if this would hurt or harm the economy. Once again, it seems to be fine as-is. I see no point in adding these "gems". Nether Stars can be used to trade ECD, or buy rare items with a specific amount of Nether Stars, so this would be a good idea if we used them to do the same- but we already have nether stars to do so. Thus I come back to my argument that this isn't a great idea.
I don't really like this Idea. However A new currency or something similar would actually benefit Ecc. Similar to exp it would stimulate the economy and actually get people to make more transactions. The smart would benefit and people with more knowledge about Ecc could probably make some money off it by judging its actually value correctly.
I take it you all don't vote very often? The reason I say this is because voting works the exact same way as these gems when it comes to earning money from them.
I could be very wrong here, but we use essentials for the balance, and it isn't set up for multiple currencies at the same time.
I vote every day... Also, I don't want to be given "Gems" for winning and realize the price per gem is maybe at $100, and later on they're at $500 each. SG should allow you to make money, regardless of what prices of anything else is. Netherstars from voting is different, you vote and you get it. For SG, you need to win to get them.
The /sell price from the server would allow for you to make the same amount that you normally make from winning sg's. The only difference would that you would have to type "/sell" which is apparently very inconvenient. Having an extra currency would allow for many additions to the SG's. Like I said before, there could be "gem" kits that give players items that can already be found on the map. This feature would allow for kit users to still have the upperhand, which is also what no kit user ever wants to give up.
When would you get a gem? Currently you get $100 after each kill, so would you get one after you kill someone? If so, then that would make these "Gems" worth only $100. Also, if gems were a different currency, people would be making more money off of SG. Average full games go for around $3500-$4000. With gems $100 each or less, someone would get 35-40 gems after each game. If this was made to be another "currency" server prices are usually less or the same as what people buy/sell at. If they were wprth $150 to the player market, people would be making more money per SG, and total SG prizes would have to lower.
