In Game Name: VolvithHave you changed your Minecraft username since being banned? If so, what is your previous name: NoWhich of ECC's services are you banned on: I believe SkyblockReason of Ban: Illegal AutomationRule Violated: I'm not sure... (i've looked, can't find a rule regarding this...)Please explain in your own words what the rule(s) means: So, i believe i know what i'm banned for, but i'm not 100% certain. This morning, about 11 to 12 hours ago, i was mining obsidian on my island on the Skyblock server. I was constanly holding the left mouse button and W, and my hand was cramping up, so i thought i'd be smart and just reassign left mouse click to f8, and put a weight on W and f8. I wasn't AFK, so i thought it'd be fine, as i wasn't actually automating anything. I had a discussion with Padsen in chat, about whether this was legal or not (Note, there was an admint and i think 1 or 2 other mods online, among wich 314 and Ozzy), Padsen persisted it was, i persisted it wasn't. Mods saw this conversation and didn't add to it, which made me believe that i was in my right to put weights on my keyboard as long as i was still at my keyboard. The fact that i constantly replied to chat in game supports the fact that i was at my keyboard. I'm sorry if i broke a rule, please do point out which one so that i won't make this mistake next time. Also, maybe warn me of the fact that i'm doing something illegal before i get banned out of the blue... :|Reason you feel you think you should be un-banned: I understand that i was wrong, at the time i didn't think much of substituting fingers for weights, i now understand that it IS in fact not allowed. Furthermore, i am sorry for my behaviour yesterday/this morning, i'll try to refrain from letting my anger get the best of me... :/
Just looked at the complaint, i was never afk, and the image below is not mean to be taken literally, it was a conversation on the kind of obisidan production. Scenario 1 would be filling a field with obsidian, watering it, and mining it, WHICH IS WHAT I DID. Scenario 2 would be an obisidan generator where you can just hold your mouse and don't have to walk, a generator which is close to the same speed as Scenario 1. (Which is not possible on skyblock because nerfed hoppers, which is why i went with Scenario 1, and i never actually went AFK. -_-) In my defense, i never admitted to afk automation, i never have used afk automation, and this screenshot is taken out of context, even though the context of the conversation might have been obscure or unclear to begin with. Because of the unclear context of the conversation, i understand that Luna was mistaken in believing that i was breaking rules. I am sorry for making it appear i'm breaking laws on skyblock. I have bought SkyGod, and even i am not stupid enough to endanger myself for a ban for a few extra in game dollars... -_- EDIT: In addition to that, i have never been acting in game while AFK, and i have never used any sort of AFK automation. I have not broken any rules as they are stated in the rules section on the forums, and mods did not warn me or act when i openly told in chat what i was doing. The AFK section needs a revision if what i did was not allowed. Mods should have jumped in and told me what i was doing was not allowed. I firmly believe that i did nothing wrong, though if i did i am sorry and i will refrain from breaking the rules in the future, and i believe that i should be unbanned without a temporary continuation of my current ban. Screenshot:
Again, to clarify. The above screenshot lists my preferences. Either i'm going full manual, or full automatic no in between. BUT SINCE FULL AUTOMATIC ISN'T ALLOWED, I WENT FULL MANUAL. -_- EDIT: Literally, in the sentence below the 'incriminating one' i say that i'd rather choose for a slow and manual process than an automated one, because it'd be faster anyways, ffs.
I seen you say you couldn’t find the rule you violated, here is a link to it, if you would like to edit it into your appeal. https://www.ecocitycraft.com/forum/wiki/skyblock-afk-and-automation-guidelines/ Also, there seems to be a lot of confusion about what AFK actually means. Many people think that it’s ok to weight down their keys/mouse buttons, but because they are still in front of the screen, they aren’t AFK. This is false when it comes to a game. Think of it this way, it’s not the presence of you being near your computer, but the contact you have with the keyboard. Once you stop having physical contact with the keyboard, you’re away from your keyboard “AFK”. And once you no longer have pysical contact with your keyboard, your character should stop all together. Good luck with your appeal.
Not an AFK matter, i was still using ASD to steer and stop, and shift to lower my speed as i was in /speed 10. EDIT: In addition to that, i was mining a 16x16 planar obsidian sheet, for which i needed to use my mouse to look around and go up and down the obsidian sheet.
But was your finger holding down the one key(s) you weighted? Of course not, or it wouldn’t need to be weighted. You still used an outside source other than your body to depress that key. I have no idea why you keep trying to justify it. It’s somthing small, you didn’t know. I’m not here to judge you, only tell you that no matter how you spin it, putting a weight on a key for any reason is illegal, whether you’re right there pushing keys as well and interacting with the community or sleeping. Just trying to help you understand the situation a lil better.
If that is indeed the case the rules regarding AFK behaviour and keypress substitution need to be seriously revised. Nowhere in the rules is stated that something like this is not allowed outside of AFK use. Mods present at the time did not say anything about this being frowned upon, not allowed or straight up illegal. There is no way i could have known any of this, even after reading the rules several times. I should not be penalised for the lack of clear rules regarding keypress substitution, especially since no mod, supermod or admin jumped in at the time of me openly stating my action in chat, despite at least 2 mods, and an admin being present at the time of my conversation. The definition of AFK is "away from keyboard". If the rules listed under an AFK section apply outside of AFK behaviour, it should be noted, if not the rules being listed under a section other than AFK. "Automation/Keypress Substitution." Would be a more appropriate title for the subject.
I absolutely agree with this comment. Wiki should be changed for better clarification. And i think mods were afk at that moment. IMO there should be something done with mods going afk. I sometimes press tab, see a/a few mod(s) online, ask a question in chat, yet no answer from any mod; which makes me think they are afk because there could be no way a mod wouldn't read chat. I or someone else could post a suggestion thread about this topic. (Since i have to go now and also wanna share this incomplete comment, i'll just be posting it. I might edit it later)
Copy and pasted from the Skyblock automation section of the wiki (note the red paragraph) On EcoCityCraft Skyblock, the creation and use of automatic farms as well as going AFK by these farms are welcomed and very much encouraged. However, several limitations exist to prevent the generation massive amounts of resources. Violation of any of the following AFK and automation guidelines can result in your balance being wiped or island being reset as well as a ban from EcoCityCraft should you be caught. You have been warned! Contents Guidelines AFK top) top) Going AFK on Skyblock is perfectly allowed. However, while you are AFK, you should generally not be performing any activities. The following is NOT allowed: The use of any third-party modifications to the client (i.e. MacroMod, Autofish, hacked clients, etc.) to perform actions while AFK. The use of any method to hold down or press a button while AFK (i.e. placing a weight to hold down MOUSE1 and farming Cobblestone) The use of any external programs (i.e. autoclickers, AutoHotKey, macros) to perform actions while AFK. Anything not listed above that does work to generate income.
I agree. @pokeball92870 please re-clarify the wiki to be clear that automation in general is not allowed using 3rd party methods regardless of activity. Currently it does say that this ban is improper. @Volvith I apologize for this inaccuracy on the wiki. It will be cleared up. @STAFF-02 Super Moderator Please unban.
I was not AFK at the moment, as i already stated above. This is why i believe that the rules need some serious revisioning and clarification, and why i believe i should not be penalised for flawed language in the server rules, and no temporary extension of my already present ban should be applied.
Thank you Jamie. I'm sorry i made such a big deal out of this, and creating what essentially ended up being little short of a debate on this subject.
Lol I understand u now. I misread what you said and thought you said that there was nowhere in the rules about placing a weight on a key period, not the whole “what is afk.” My bad.
