Suggestion: That staff applications be locked after created, so no one can post on them.

Reason: First of all, moderators have to read that stuff to make sure no one is swearing/breaking rules ect. But no matter how many posts on your thread, it doesn't mean you'll get staff. I know the staff tries to be as objective as possible when deciding these things, but having tons of ratings and "+1" posts do have subliminal effects on the human mind. They will, so to speak, more likely pick you. It's a small effect, but an effect nonetheless. It also would keep all the threads in order, and not keep getting bumped to the stop, therefor, helping staff even more by having things in order..

Any Other Information: Nope, already listed all my reasoning.

I personally like the posts on staff apps. Posts, as well as expressing community opinion, allow people to give constructive criticism. I understand however that some people may not want there pos open to the public. Maybe when creating the title of te app people can put either [Staff Application *OPEN*] or [Staff Application *CLOSED]. If try out the closed one a mod will lock there post for them this giving people a choice if they want there app locked or not.

**Edit** Another problem I have just though of if what if people wish to edit or cancel their app they can't do that if it is locked.

I was under the impression that you could still edit a post after the thread was locked. I could easily edit the title to say "Delete" or something.

But having an option is definitely something I would want if I filed an application.

Locked threads cannot be edited. One reason for them being unlocked is so that users can edit and update (age is one example, or finding links to previous experience, etc).

As well, locked threads cannot use polls. Even though I do not like the polls, having them available means threads need to be unlocked.

Lastly, leaving them open is good for looking at someone's character and personality. Everyone will act and reply differently to people who post on their application, which is good for us to see. Knowing how a person will respond to situations is a good thing.

I fully understand that ratings and posts can sway people's decisions, but that is more in the community's eyes, rather than the Staff's. Our process isn't, "oh, that user is liked, I choose them and they get Staff." We take into considering many things. All of these variables can cancel out/enhance/etc. everything about a person.

Personally, I would like to see ratings go (more for the community, rather than Staff), but unfortunately, it seems that disabling ratings in specific forum areas is not possible. :/
