Ok, this suggestion will probably get a lot of hate but hear me out first before leaving your opinion. Please do read the whole thing.
Recently, I’ve gotten into 1.8 PvP. It truely does take more than spam clicking. Look past that. If you can jitterclick 10-16 PCs but you can’t aim with it and you are fighting someone clicking 5-6 cps and have good aim, they would win. Additionally you need to know to strafe, starightlining won’t help you in all situations. I’ve come to learn 1.9 is a lot point and click than 1.8 is.
By no means am I the best at 1.8, but I will always think it’s better than the new pvp system now. There is a lot more skill to it than you think.
Before you hate on me, go and try out 1.8 PvP, take some time to attempt to learn it - strafes, anti-kb strats, rodding, and click methods. You will come to learn, if you truely tried that it is a lot more than spam clicking. It’s about aim, strafes, and even more.
TL;DR: Learn 1.8 before you hate thx

Anyway like marsh was saying I was suggesting a 1.8 version to kit pvp -
Impossible to get right on main server.
Nearly every server with a plug-in that attempts to revert to 1.8 pvp gets it wrong. Damage values and everything need to be changed.
However, forwards compatibility does work. Meaning that 1.12.2 clients would be able to connect to a 1.8 server. This would be the easiest and most logical way forward.
What does that mean for ECC? It means that it’s never going to happen on main. The chances of Jamie or Andrew deciding for some unknown reason to switch to 1.8 is astronomical, keeping in mind the destruction of builds as blocks would disappear etc.
A separate server wouldn’t be too bad, considering they want to become a Network anyways, however it won’t look good if people can’t connect to a server on the network due to their game version. It would mean backwards compatibility on lobby, and forwards compatibility on the pvp server.
Tl;dr NOT LIKELY-

+1 Because I'm afraid if I don't you'll just end up harassing me and making my life hell like you did before -
ECC is stable and alive because we update to the latest version as soon as it comes out. This is the core reason we've been able to avoid major duplication bugs like in 1.8.8.
Running 1.12.2, and another server running 1.8.8 is not possible.
Ever.
I will not maintain two different versions of our plugins, with two sets of patches, and two sets of bugs. We will never run disjunct versions across the network.
Andrew's OCD would go rampant from it too.
TL;DR - 1.8 will never come to ECC as a minecraft version - and 1.8 PVP will never come to the main server.
1.8 PVP could come to kitpvp in a separate gamemode when we decide to add it (read; in jira)-

Personally, I prefer the new PVP mechanic.
1.8 PVP encourages bow / weapon spamming, it's easier to kill someone, yes, but what about the challenge aspect? The new PVP has cooldowns and such, making it more challenging and IMO, more fun.
So yeah... -1 -

I’d like if you tell me why you prefer 1.9 :)
The new pvp makes it everything but challenging. 1.8 is more challenging, you can only get out of combos if you know what you are doing -

As for suggestion, I do enjoy 1.9, but I also preferred 1.8 over 1.9.
If you ask any frequent PvP’er or SG’er, who had/has played prior to 1.9 PvP then the answer will mostly always be the same of 1.8 is more enjoyable to play on.
Sadly it isn’t very easily implementable, so if they found a way to make it 1.8 without bugs and such then +1 for me. -
MCStats (~126k registered servers) shows that 46.4% use 1.9+ and 34.9% use 1.8.x while bStats (~53k registered servers) states that 63.9% use 1.9+ and only 30% use 1.8.x. I know that bStats is a lot newer than MCStats (which means that most plugins for 1.8/7- won't implement bStats), but it does make me wonder... PvP and combat-related minigames seem to be relatively popular in general, so why do so many servers use 1.9+ if PvPers prefer 1.8-? I'm honestly not sure how to interpret this data.
