Minecraft Name: mattybillo1 Suggestion: Make it illegal to simply reply '-1' or 'bad idea' on a suggestion without any reasoning. Reason: Isn't it as bad as the negative rating the forums had which were quickly removed. You can simply post down someones post with no reasoning, just because you don't like that idea. This will make the person less confident to make any others suggestion in case the same is done. I personally find it very annoying and I am sure many others do. People can spend hours on a suggestion and people simply reply with '-1' to dishearten the person making the suggestion with no reasoning. Any Other Information: I am aware this may be extra effort to monitor the suggestions for staff, and I am fully understand if for that reasoning it is not added. If I do that people just don't reply, same with any other none moderator, with a mod doing it, it can be time consuming, but I guess it isn't too difficult.
it's a bit annoying when you see a -1 on your suggestion, but everybody has their reasons maybe it's because they don't fully understand it or they think it's something bad?
The problem would be when you get a group of people who will "bomb" someones post so there rating goes down, I've seen this happen to many community's who use systems that have both positive and negative ratings (for example rooster teeths old mod points)
How about a +1 and a -1 on posts for ratings? OH WAIT WE HAVE POLLS AND POSTING. Some people just give +1's or -1's, which kind of annoys me when people don't explain why. -1
Honestly, why do you even care. If they think that the suggestion you posted was not a good idea then let them do the "-1". I say this suggestion is a useless suggestion. For one, it gives the staffs even more things to deal with. Just ignore the -1 comments. If they do not want to leave a reason then do not make them.
Honestly, a rating does not really matter too much. When someone says '+1' or '-1' without reasoning, I simply act as if it was never posted +1 for effort
Anyway I wouldn't necessarily give this a "-1" because I do so where you come from this. It is annoying to have post just a plus or minus 1. What I do is just ignore them or just ask for a reason and if they don't meh. Forget them
Just ignore them, it's not that hard. Honestly this suggestion seems a bit rediculous. Anyway: a lot of people post +1 without a reason. They have one they just don't feel the need to type it out.
I made this suggestion because way I see it putting -1 on a suggestion is just another way of trolling, but is currently legal. I can see you don't agree but that is not a reason to troll this post with comments like 'where's the '-1' rating when you need it' and saying '-1' just to troll the post. In response to the sensible feedback, if they have a reason type it or don't post at all.
I understand but people will always look down on a suggestion if many comments are '-1' even if there is no reasoning. I have also seen many people ask for a suggestion to be locked because people have put '-1'.
If a suggestion is good, someone writing '-1' will not affect andrew's decision towards it. Therefore, I revoke the +1 from before. -1.
I think the rule should be no useless posts, this would include +1, -1, etc. If it was +1 or -1 with a reason it would be okay.
I don't believe this should be made as a set rule- Though some may be doing it to troll, others may be doing it because they just dislike the idea, and they don't know why. Or they don't feel like putting a reasoning for whatever reason, and just decide to simply disagree. Andrew has said before in voting threads / suggestions - A detail worded post will get your opinion a lot farther then a +1 or -1 post. So if someone does truly disagree with a post, they most likely will most likely make a detailed post, over a +1 or -1 post. If they decide they want to just say -1, then let them. It won't hurt your suggestion, really, unless there's an overwhelming amount of "-1" votes. I don't feel like putting a rule bound on this is really fair, it's sort of taking away a person's freedom of speech.. Even if it's two characters. Lol...
Really Matty...this is pretty useless. If you don't like it then click the "report" button. If someone says "-1" then let them. It may annoy you, but there are tons of other posts that have detailed answers. Why don't we make saying "+1" illegal too? If you don't want to post anymore suggestions due to stress and pressure of "-1" then mail the suggestion to me and I'll post it with credit to you.
-1 The decision to make a comment or to explain their reasoning is the choice of the person who makes the rating. You shouldn't force them to say something, Anyway people will value the ratings that have given a reason over those with a simple -1
