Not sure if this works on Ecc but if you take a piece of dirt and a sapling up to a point where you can see bedrock, all you have to do is clear space so the tree will grow and it will grow through the bedrock. then once you cut down the tree you are in. Not sure if it works on ecc though as i stated above

As this thread has been dead for about 0.5 years until today (and the question had already been answered back then), I'll be locking it for necro.

(On a side note, the bug is fixed within Spigot itself - so, not working on ECC.)
