Rank up if you want to use the shoutbox. There needs to be an incentive to rank up. I'm annoyed that builders are allowed to use the mining world as well, as there's zero incentive to get resident. At least keep some. -1
The mining world is a great way to make money, plus I personally would rather not have Legacy/ Rising tore up just because they can't rank up.
Let's look back at 2013, before builders were granted access. There was no torn up Legacy, and the player count was about 3 times its current size. Stop using that as an invalid excuse, because it's totally wrong.
No need to get defensive, I just think that the world that gets reset should be used for what is in its name.
Then what incentives are there to get resident? None whatsoever, and that becomes an issue overtime, so by allowing builders who donated get access to the shout box, it begins to whither away.
The incentive to get Resident is that you are one step closer to getting your own plot of land, access to the shoutbox, many more locks, and you are then able to add/remove members of towns. Biggest one of these is the town that comes with Mayor.
If anything, since this is a forum perk I think it should be added to forum gold/lite. Overall I see no negatives, really.
+1 donators should get access to the shoutbox regardless of their rank even though there are very few.
Why not both? If they want to donate but not become resident they can do so But if they want to become resident then donate they can do that as well Or they can simply become resident and not donate
What? So with the mining world being open to builders there are no incentives whatsoever to getting resident? Here's two incentives purely from getting resident: Oh then you are a step closer to the Mayor ones above AND all of these: They're pretty significant incentives in my eyes. Please stop trolling. Why shouldn't builders have the incentive to buy features? There is no logic to that whatsoever. If players want to donate earlier, they are obviously enjoying the server more and will stick around. How is that in any way a bad thing?
As for the suggestion, I agree that donators should have access to the shout box. I will mention it and see if we can get this added
Tell me this, are they mayor yet? Nope. I'm not against people donating, I'm against this for two reasons: 1. It's for the benefit of two players, and that's it. That ticks me off, and does nothing else but benefit the player and one other. 2. We've gone long enough without it, and there's no need to add it. There's what, the ability to make trade signs when you get resident? That's just about it, and now we take this away, you can pay $10 for shoutbox without working at all. It's a destroying work ethic for those who can pay $10. It's Pay2Win, and that's not right. If you can't work for two hours to get resident, then you shouldn't have shoutbox access. You're creating a heirarchy for builders, and that isn't right. Get resident if you want it, if not, then you don't get the feature. I'm not trolling, and it's extremely agitating given no one has given valid reasoning other than, "Incentive to donate", and "Closer to mayor". Those are invalid, I'll prove them wrong later. Don't call me a troll because I don't agree with the masses. That's just flat out wrong.
You're missing the point - The biggest incentive of resident is that it is a necessary step to Mayor. Then the next biggest is trade signs. We aren't going to start chipping away at them, so you don't need to worry about that. The shoutbox can play quite a big part in the community, why shouldn't builders who have donated and been a big part of the ecc community be allowed to contribute to it? We aren't chipping away at server features that are Res+ or anything. The reason why builders aren't allowed to post there is to prevent spam bots/new accounts advertising etc. Players who have bought features clearly don't fall within that risk category, so there isn't a reason to prevent them from using something which is part of the community. Now, why then only open it up to builders who have donated and not others? Because its a clearly defined line in the sand where there is no staff bias in selecting builders who can get shout box access. Similarly, despite what you said above, giving people incentives to donate is a good thing.
I see no negatives to this suggestion. As Dewsy mentioned above, the reason the shoutbox is disabled for builders is to prevent spam bots from filling up the chat with spam. I don't think those bots will want to go out of there way and purchase a donation feature for each and every one of their accounts.
