What do you mean "builders don't know about the forum"? It's literally impossible to not know about the forums if you want to rank up, and any question regarding it is answered with "visit the forums".

Like, you could argue not all players talk to others, but the subset of players that don't talk to others is likely along the same lines that reads the wiki they are told to visit via the hologram at spawn.

The /help command has a link to the wiki, and the wiki has all the information about ranks people need. I don't see the problem here.

Why force people to ask google or guess, when you could just provide a trusted, reliable, handy clickable link?
The only reasonable argument against this suggestion is "it's not worth the time to implement", but this discussion is taking much more than the 2 minutes it would take to implement. I really don't see the point of being against it

Anyone who can't figure out we have a website based on this is, without a doubt, the stupidest person on earth.

 

Well if you also throw in "those interested in using the bank, market shops, owning a town, getting special features, applying for staff, or actually reading the rules"...

then to be honest once you've ruled out all of those things (which require the forums!) I'm fairly certain that there's not a whole lot else to do, and if they're intuitive enough to find the new things to do, they'll probably find the forums.

A lot of things are "two minute changes", that doesn't mean they shouldn't be very thoroughly discussed - when things aren't discussed you get "solutions" that are flawed from the start or can also cause problems. Or, arguably the worst of all, a solution that leaves us content we've done something but fails to help the issue.

On that point, that's exactly what this is. Few players will click a link to the forum if it's given to them as soon as they log in, most just don't care about forums (mainly the younger more casual demographic this suggestion is targeted to help). We give a handful of reasons for players to use the forum and once a player is pursuing one it's incredibly easy to find the forum

 

But there should be an advert once in like 10mins going visit our forums it makes life easier and will get more people checking what our server is really about.

 

I was wanting them to add signs with embedded links, it would also link in game to the forums seamlessly but with this town owners can link their town threads to players joining their towns.

Totally agree. Indeed, I wasn't arguing against discussion, but rather against what appeared (to me) an unjustified prior aversion to the suggestion. However:

It's not like people are either stupid or smart: people do smart or stupid stuff. And given that stupid-mode is just the default mode that mother nature gave us, given that it requires a constant effort to avoid "being" stupid, you can't expect people, even the smartest ones on Earth, to never ever do something stupid in their entire life.
Back on topic: people are used to spam and ads everywhere, so it's not surprising at all that someone might not see a link to the forum right before their eyes. What I really don't understand is this: what damage would an additional link do, so much that you're so vehemently against it? I could understand a rebuttal like "I prefer quality over quantity: let's not add another link, but maybe write the already existing ones in a different color, or highlight them, or idk". But you're not being contructive, not at all: you're just casting your useless contempt onto other people.
