kinda feel like I'm walking (flying ??) on eggshells elytra flying in areas without invincible allowed. I'm not retarded, and it hasn't killed me yet, but seeing as fly eliminates fall damage, it would make sense for elytras to not hurt you when flying face first into a tree.Other information:
I can only imagine how much worse this is with a magic elytra, when compared to my regular one.

I'm kind of 50/50 on this one.
On one hand, fly makes it so you can fall out of the sky and deal no damage to yourself, so it would make sense to keep the perks even if you are flying with the elytra
On the other hand, some people choose the elytra as the "realistic" flight option and taking away the damage from hitting stuff if you have fly or flyplus might take away from the experience to some.
In the end. +1, cuz hardcore types could always just toggle cheats! -
First off, before I weigh in, I would want this for the highest level of fly only because the only reason you would want to use an elytra is because you cannot fly on whatever server you are elytring on. With how relatively cheap gunpowder is right now, then it could stop players from getting the higher fly features.
As for the suggestion itself, I'm kind of on the fence as well. If it is for the highest level of fly, then sure, only if it is on all servers you can fly on (so basically all server but End). Otherwise, probably not -
First off not everyone looks to use elytras for practicality. I would consider their foremost function as entertainment, personally. I like a mix of normal flying and some elytra fly thrown in there.
But correct, the idea is the worlds where fly can be toggled would also tie in with elytra damage being added/removed. The activation of /fly would coincide with the additonal perk, really just acting as another reason to buy the feature. consider it the same as fall damage being eliminated when fly is activated. im not advocating for giving out freebies! -
I look to elytra fly for enjoyment in the mechanics of flying, which is far more engaging than just wasd. Anyone that looks to elytras to...take damage from flying into things, is in need of help.
Considering we have countless features to make things easier (prevention of drowning, burning, falling etc), I feel it is very much in line with the majority of the server that seek to make the game less hellish. Sorry to the small hardcore minority, but if you're really a hardcore player you shouldn't have bought fly then, huh? -
Thank you for clarifying. The initial suggestion didn’t state this and I took it as wanting a mode of flying that would bypass the fly feature upgrades (tbh, except for the title, the suggestion was kind of confusing to the specifics of what you wanted).
Gonna +0 this then. Elyria flying is fun and cool, but in the practicality of it, this seems more of a coding change that would benefit a few just for almost cosmetic purposes -

Maybe in normal world only.
Elytra flying is the only means of transport (there is a very few other options) in the End and you are nullifying another risk in the End.
So maybe for Rising worlds only for me.-
