In Game Name: Nicit6What part of EcoCityCraft is this suggestion for: All Main ServersShort title for your suggestion: Prestige Changes for 2.0What are you suggesting: Change prestige from a 1.x /sell bonus to a 1.x double drop chance at block harvest. Why is this a good addition for EcoCityCraft?: Prestige shops make prestige useless. There's no practical benefit to spending hundreds of hours grinding for prestige, when you can go to Joe Schmoe's shop and sell for nearly the max price. Modifying this to a double drop chance means that Joe Schmoe can't market out his service (this modifier wouldn't be available on placed blocks). He'll still get the bonus on his own earnings (he'll get 50% more melons rather than 50% more cash), so his prestige is still extremely valuable. Meanwhile those without prestige, or with low prestige, now have an incentive to get more. Moving from prestige 2 to 3 now has a practical benefit. Another added benefit is that prestige would now also net gains for players selling on the player market. Currently something like quartz or lanterns isn't affected by prestige. Now players with high prestige can generate higher quantities of desirable blocks. This will likely push the prices lower, but ultimately this just makes it easier for builders to acquire blocks and build nice things.Other information: This suggestion is not intended to affect sell modifiers from magic armor, magic items, or mythic tools. It can do that, but I don't currently feel like the once-a-week nature of these items will be as problematic. Ideally, in addition to preventing double drops on placed blocks, we could whitelist blocks per world as an additional safeguard. Crops only in main worlds, gems only in mining, nether stuff only in the nether. Would prevent issues with builds that are transferred in.Plugin or custom addition: Custom. The really core issue here is tracking which blocks are placed already and which are fresh harvests, but it's my understanding this is already being done for certain magic tools. One suggestion per form: I Understand.
+1 in addition to de incentivizing getting ones own prestige, the shops/prestige under the current system also reduce incentive to buy magic items, armor, and several tools like pick.
+1 the fact that getting prestiges alone without getting at least 7 prestiges is useless really deters me from trying for them.
+1. I totally agree with @ImpulseIV. Under the current system, those who have a low amount of prestige might as well have none.
I am not +1 or -1 this suggestion as I am a prestige shop owner. (I do ofcourse like how prestige is now as I would rather run a shop and make passive income rather than grind more even though I grinded enough to get the prestiges I have today) I do have to mention one thing, and its this: With things like mining/fishing, yes those are perfectly okay to sell to prestige shops. With farming, or mob grinding you lose out on profits for trying to sell these to shops seeing as you gather so many items at high volume. If you like making money with farming or mob grinding (or anything where you get a high count of items you need to sell in a fast pace), you 100% want to go for your own prestige. Just looking at my shop sales. I have a mob drop floor and I haven't even been sold 2+ dubs of any mob drop since my shop has opened. This is one of those things that people just sell on their own, no matter if they can get more money from selling to a prestige shop. When it comes to farming items, Nwart is something I feel shouldnt be sold to prestige shops as well. People do indeed sell it to me ALOT, but I know 100% that the time they take to teleport to my shop and sell, its cutting out on their profits as they can make more just from selling on their own and constantly farming. With prestige shops in existence, it just all comes down to how you make your money. Also prestige isnt just there to increase your profits from grinding. Some people just go for prestige as its a end game thing to do.
This is definitely a fair point and I hadn't fully considered grinding methods which can't really take advantage of shops since they fill up too quickly. I think I was assuming that those methods would be slow enough to make reasonable use of prestige shops during the vast majority of the time in which magic tools will not be available. (Mind you I've admittedly never used a star hoe or star sword in any meaningful way so I could totally be wrong). Also of course I get some people will grind for prestige just as an endgame goal but a real financial incentive would obviously be much more enticing.
+1 Would make prestige a real money-making goal and need for a lot of people. Which in my opinion translates into higher player participation and engagement across the server. Also it gives me even more room to complain about sb/sg/mcmmo being p2w
Maybe adding this on top of the current advantages of prestige would entice people who want to earn more money by community prestige shops and such can along with people who are more solo players who would benefit from getting more for there buck on top of the extra money. Having a variety of ways of wanting prestige would only be a good thing. Along with the fact if this was added while keeping the extra percentage of sell hand, it wouldn't make it overpowered as trying to split time running a shop with the cool downs and mining to get the extra drops would be very hard. Tldr: add it on top of the current benefits to increase the want for people to grind for prestiges
I got the vibe that is what you meant if you didn't explicitly stated it, but I wanted to explicitly state it in case someone didn't get said vibe
What if we split the difference? Prestige is currently at 4%, but what if we drop it to maybe 1-2% MAX post reset, but also implement that double drop idea as well? I don't know if that would make it too OP, but it seems to be a way to keep prestige shops (without them being OP) as well as give better incentive to prestige yourself.
Huge +1 to this suggestion as someone who has always had distaste for the implementation of prestige and it's widespread effects on the economy. I intend to post a long-winded research analysis on how this would significantly improve the prestige system overall in a day or two, so hopefully this suggestion isn't closed by then.
I think this is the perfect solution to bring prestige back to its original intention from my understanding. It was meant to be a boost you could earn yourself, not something you spread around until earning the boost was pointless. I can't tell you how many people I've talked to over the past few years who saw 0 point in getting prestige cause prestige shops existed (Admittedly, myself included). Making the reward for prestige actually be just about giving the individual a leg up makes it something 1) people will want to achieve and 2) keeps prestige shops from making /worth values pointless references. +1 also can't wait for @WeirdBuilder's thesis paper
+1 for research paper purposes. Also, I always never really saw a point in grinding for prestige's solely because of the fact that I could always just sell to a friend and get more money that way. To do something like this I feel like would flip that desire/want to strive towards grinding those prestiges. In all, I feel like this would spice it up and help make them unique to individuals, and not something everyone can just mooch off of each other.
Thanks for your suggestion. We will not be prioritizing this for the launch of ECC 2.0. Once launched, after a bit of time passes, feel free to re-suggest and we will see how the community feels at that time. The opinions here are split, and I much rather wait for a more active reset server prior to making these changes.
