Yes this would be amazing and would look extremely nice in some players towns as well as it would look nice in @Mission001's museum and mine as well. But this should totally be added as its a really cool block and just adds more to things. +1

There's a reason why they're disabled and it's because of lag. They do cause a lot of lag.

 

Hells yeah! i'm not an expert, may cause lag tho. but it would be really nice. it would be cool and you could make more amazing towns, and you can use them to show important areas in towns with the light pillars

Originally I thought people were gonna have FPS lag because of the beacons and I was gonna say that's their problem, but I just learned they cause server lag. I think they'd be enabled if andrew thought the server could handle it but that's clearly not the case. Administration knows more than us when it comes to this stuff. They're not just disabling beacons because they want you to suffer, it's for the better of the server.

Some people say they cause server lag, some say they cause client lag. If I had to bet, I'd bet that they cause server lag only if their features are enabled, and that they cause only client lag when the features are disabled and only when there's a lot. Therefore I'd bet a +1.
But I'd like to hear a confirmation from someone more into these technicalities before solidifying my +1.

 

Cant you imagine a builder just placing a ton of beacons and making the area really annoying to be in. If this gets aproved im gonna say none in my town. I dont see how this couldnt cause lag

 

This could be said for almost anything, one very obvious example: tons of furnaces. The simple solution is just to rule it out (as it is for furnaces) and, if some troll abuses it, ban. As simple as that.

 

@Expipiplusone but still if we let beacons be placed you cant ban someone for using them execuvly. Idk how to spell that

 

Err, if we add to the rules that it's forbidden to abuse beacons, then we can ban those who abuse them, obviously?
