Minecraft Username: Expipiplusone Brief Description: Wet sponge doesn't dry up when placed inside a cooking pot Instructions: Put a wet sponge in a cooking pot and wait until the end of the universe How many times did you recreate this bug?: a couple times, the cooking pot had plenty of fuel Result: sponge didn't dry up Expected Result: sponge should dry up Evidence: n/a The same happens when putting wood logs in cooking pots: they should be converted into charcoal, but they're not.
This is a known bug. All 1.8 items don't cook in cookpots as far as I am aware - Since the sponge has new 1.8 mechanics it no longer works in the cook pot. For now we recommend using furnaces.
*Looks at his 2.5 stacks of mutton and his 2.2 stacks of rabbit meat in his cook pot* Yes, they work.
At first raw rabbit didn't cook either, it now cooks because it has been fixed (as @Physicistsmom said) I reported the bug because I thought it couldn't be the same reason: sponges were available before 1.8 too, unlike raw rabbit. But, if their mechanics has been changed, then the reason could be the same - in that case sorry for the duplicate bug report
Another block that should "cook" in cooking pot, but doesn't: stone bricks (should turn into cracked stone bricks). When put in furnace it does cook into cracked stone bricks, as expected.
