Minecraft Username: Steveshizzle Brief Description: Wood slabs placed over water will not break properly with an enchanted axe (properly = quick and dropping items), will break when hit with pickaxe, drops broken item graphic Instructions: 1. Acquire axe, pickaxe 2. Attempt to break wood slabs with axe 3. Scream in frustration 4. Break slabs easily with pickaxe 5. Write bug report How many times did you recreate this bug?: Multiple times, also experienced by @bmanvman Result: Slabs will not break with axe, will break with pickaxe, drops "wooden slab" item with unpatched item graphic Expected Result: Normal oak slabs dropped, easily breakable by axe Evidence: Brought in Bman as a witness who had the same experience. He says it may be that the slabs are so old ("wooden slabs" vs "Oak Wood Slabs") that they don't have the same break stats and that the item graphic is no longer a thing. This seems the most likely but I thought I'd post this anyways to see what other community members thought.
This is exactly what happened here. I have about 2.5 stacks of those old 'stone' wood slabs in my vault. Long story short: All slabs used to be stone slabs, then actual wood slabs were introduced as a new item at some point. Those old slabs still exist because their ID was never replaced.
Thanks for the response, I'd never seen this before and just assumed all wood blocks updated to their respective variations when they were introduced My next question then is, since these appear to be pretty rare, how much could I sell them for?
Not that rare. Existing slabs weren't converted, so old Legacy towns should still contain quite a lot of them.
