There's nothing wrong with teamspeak in my opinion. I have, however, heard many positive things about discord. I can't really offer a valid opinion on switching because I only have experience with teamspeak.

 

Discord also offers chat room functionality besides the voice chat functionality. It's also completely free (no limits, either. There's a discord server with over 5k players on it) and it works really well from what I've learned.
I personally really prefer Discord over TS3. (Especially since it will have group chats and video chats/screensharing functionality soon. Byebye skype)
Discord is also way more intuitive than TS3.

I'd say it's worth a try.

 

I really like discord and have uninstalled skype already xD much better voice application and I like the built in overlay that discord offers instead of having to install a 3rd party app to have an overlay with teamspeak.

The permission system is also extremely simplified compared to teamspeak's 1000 different options and invites can be restricted to individuals similar to how they are handled now with teamspeak.

Temporary Membership is: Members are automatically kicked when they disconnect unless a role is assigned.

This way the user would need to be approved by staff to stay on the server.

I would really like for this to happen.

I've never heard of discord so Would obviously choose teamspeak over it, Would have to check it out as I have had a bad experience with Skype, if it has as bad security as Skype I would not like to use it at all.

I have yet to look into it though.

 

+1. Team speak costs a lot of money, and half of the server hosts are terrible. I believe ours is type frag and constantly goes down.

Anyways, discord is
- Free
- Extremely Easy
- No download required
- Very good quality
- Support for pictures and links.
- Basically a friends list and you can see what your friends or who ever is doing what.

The only thing i don't know about discord is the moderation / staff part. Private channels and private permissions. But I think discord is the best way to go for ECC as it's free.
