Recently I had been saving up 20k to get Aether access. However in the process I wonder does it really worth the 20k? It's just a few floating islands with some ores which can be found in the mining world. Even if I want to create my fancy structures, why can't I just create it in the Main World which is secured in a town. Besides, for users who didn't donated for flying they can die easily and can't get from islands to islands very fast. I wonder does the aether really worth the 20k or not?
Well actually if you get griefed its bannable and Andrewkm will rollback any grief so I've been told by revanrose, and all griefs there are bannable even if they are minor like 1 cobble I believe. Aether is just a cool place I guess, I won't spend the 20k for it until after I get Mayor and Nether access.
Averagely a 10x10 plot worth $1000 which means if I have 20k I can get a plot that's around 45x45. That's enough for me to build my fancy structures with anti-grief protection. Besides, the Aether will reset once in a while which means you might lost your creations in the Aether.
To common sense, one of the purpose of the Aether is to discover ores on floating islands therefore it should reset or else all the ores will be mined and none will be left.
Creepy_Creepy, The point of the aether is not mining. Mining = Mining World. The Aether does not reset. The aether's only purpose is fantastic structures. Example? Videowiz's life-size mario castle. The giant statue of andrew in the sky. There are so many structures in the Aether. Those are the points of the aether. I have said this on the other "is the aether worth it" threads, but, here it is again. Do not get aether access if you are expecting to mine. I would recommend against aether access if you can't fly. You can get to most things but it is dangerous. If you believe you might grief, don't get aether access. The Aether is a world where grief is illegal. You might say "its illegal in the main world." This is different. If you grief the main world you won't get a rollback unless it is worth $7,500. In the aether you can request a rollback for basically any damage. Anyone caught griefing in the aether will be banned. You could also lose your aether access if you grief. TL: DR Aether is worth 20k to certain people with certain goals in mind. Then I think they should reset the mining world more frequently or else all the ores would run out and end up with a place of epic chaos. Thanks anyway, that was helpful. I think I'm going to get aether access after I get mayor or something like that.
All the ore in the mining world isn't gone. In fact, you can still find diamond and redstone on the day before the resets. There is no problem with the amount of time it takes andrew to reset. If we were constantly reseting it could negatively impact the economy and the server as a whole. How? It would make ores too easy to find and their worth would plummet. Secondly, resetting the mining world makes the server go down for several hours. If we were to do that frequently we could lose a lot of game time.
Now, I do think Aether is worth it after spending time in the mining world. There is more ores left than I thought. Besides I already have nether access. But then I wonder, can you create an animal farm in the Aether with 'animal protection'? For example, if a guy kills my cow then he will be punished and admins will come along and use spawn eggs to spawn back the cow. It will be cool if that's true since so far in the mining world there is a lack of mobs.
I say Aether is worth it when u want to get a big plot of land and just build cool structures for just 20k.
I have always loved the Aether mod for minecraft but nothing like building structures that have a penalty when being greifed and no, I don't have the aether in ECC but I defenitly will get the aether after a lot of the good chats.
Mobs in the Aether are auto-butchered, just like in the mining world. The only mobs left in the Aether are in the unexplored areas, and even if you found them they would be killed in the auto-butcher if they were in an active chunk. For all practical reasons, the Aether has no real way of making money.
