A few hours ago I reported a post because someone was asking for ratings, and it was denied because apparently it's OK to ask for ratings on thread replies, just not in the main post itself, which makes no sense at all. To be honest I'm not sure if this is intentional, might have just been a mistake while writing the rule. The rule in question: I propose that the rule is changed to cover all forum posts, because at the moment it just seems really inconsistent and strange.
ppl giv me ratings pls (seriously though +1 because it makes no sense, at the very least to change the wording and clarify things if for some reason the rule doesn't cover all posts as a result of the suggestion)
It's not really strange though. Top level threads can clutter the forum list so none of those just for ratings. Posts may clutter a thread but honestly any thread where it happens is likely to be cluttered anyway. Despite what you guys are saying I just don't see how this is unclear; you cannot create threads for ratings, doesn't say anything about posts. Frankly I don't see why it should be changed, I'm not in favor of circumstantial rule changes just because of a few benign forum posts.
@ err.... @eekelmo I believe that this will now get completely out of hand if history is any lesson... way to go If anyone agrees, they are more than welcome to leave multiple ratings.
