A lot of the problems come from donation features, and sadly we've dug ourselves in to deep to fix it.
There need to be a job center. So when new builders come in they can have something to do and find jobs to make money to spend money to have fun. The job center should be like a wall board where mayors+ can post jobs for a fee. Not a ridiculous fee. And it should be a portal at spawn. This will put money back in ECC and bring more people and keep people here. Active users equal active community. JOBS JOBS JOBS I found my self roaming endlessly trying to find out what to do when I first logged in. I saw chaos I ended up in some pvp or sg where something counted down and it was fire and people killing me fast. I know there is a tutorial section but if the new people spawned in to the job center it would help things be more active and generate more money which will cause more players. I have more thoughts but this is a logical solution from my perspective as a fairly new user(1 month give or take) Note there are x variable and a negative side to this but I thought I'd initiate the thought on this possibility.
Wow I actually really like the idea of a job center. Maybe it doesn't have to be a portal, but it could just be a big bulletin board at spawn where players can post certain jobs with a brief description and pay. Something that will easily advertise jobs at spawn without having to spawn trade chat with it because chat can become chaotic at time and its easy to miss something or an opportunity. I really think we should grow on this topic
There is also a job plugin, where you can choose what job you want to be (for the sake of argument well do a Miner), and then you mine like 200 coal for the first tier, where you get payed for that and if you have the items in your inventory, you can be payed for it.
Yes there is. I have played on servers with this plugin. I like the suggestion but personally I don't think that this plugin would change anything or be beneficial. With the jobs plugin there isn't any player interaction, somebody could just mine all day by themselves. However, the idea of the job wall or portal (as mentioned by eyesee3) is so other bigger players give jobs to new players so that not only are they getting paid, but there is also that player to player interaction and the opportunity to meet new players and learn new things from one another. And not to mention the money stays within the market, the money is simply transfered from one player to another, no money is being added. However with the job plugging, it does add money into the market and that was an issue that ECC had when Andrewkm was still the server owner so i don't think it would be the best idea.
im only assuming but it seems like disabling them would raise the nstar and exp prices back up. Is this not true?
To get enchanted items u need exp to use at the exp shop. Nstarsshop has enchanted items purchased by nstars. People are selling nstars for exp and vice versa. As well as enchanted items for nstars and exp, thus causing the value of them both to fall because its an abundance of we enchanted items or users thinking nstars are worthless due to enchantment tables now. I know I did at first which decrease the demand from my end. This is only an observation from my time online. Correction: exp is holding it's value. Only nstars are plummeting.
I have seen multiple servers go down simply because of donating... players donate too much and become too op and it ruins it for others who cant afford those features for whatever reason. The issue is that the server needs donations in order to stay up and keep running, without money then we cant afford to keep this server up. For this reason, the positives and negatives offset each other and donating needs to stay. Maybe we can find a way to alter what each donation does? Im not really sure but all I know is that donating needs to stay
But ultimately people leave because they become bored. I suggested jobs because this is an economy server right? Well if someone logs on they are looking for something to do but the main thing I was trying to point out was we need a solution which keeps things dynamically evolving to keep people who have been here and to keep the new people who come active similar to real world economy. I left out alot of x variables to try to gear the topic towards what this could be because a collection of minds are better than one...Surely there's something right? The negative... No matter the solution the growth will require more physical resources which cost money. But being a cloud developer I'm sure there's a way to reduce cost to support an ever growing server. There is one other idea I'm trying to put together that may be somewhat of a good idea. Still processing
