Hey, Right I am new to this server and I am very open to new environments but this completely shocked me and actually upset me. So I understand that the VIP chat is a relaxed chat room in which controversial topics can be discussed (according to a_man). Brill, like I think that is a good idea. Until serious things such as killing diseases are being used very casually in a very disgusting way. Certain users (not naming names) kept on using the word 'Cancer' in a derogatory manner, which in my opinion is completely in-humane and is EXTREMELY inappropriate. It is unknown as to who is actually effected by this word online as we obviously don't know each other, but we as humans should use some common sense and not use the word to describe things that are bad, just for the sake of everybody in-game. I am currently going through a period of my life in which this topic is very sensitive, and I feel that ignorance is clearly shown by those who talk about such a disease in a disgusting way, when they have no idea what that word can do do someone. Furthermore, I was even more disgusted to find this out. Admittingly, I did use some direct insults towards another player as I was extremely annoyed by their ignorance in regards to this, but I was incredibly shocked to see that I was being scolded for my use of direct insults yet the words 'Cancer' and 'AIDS' were being thrown around the room as if they have no meaning. It was just so mind baffling. I just think that another rule in regards to what is spoken about in the VIP chat should be added. This is because I, and a couple other players online at the time, were rather offended by what happened tonight. I was told multiple times to use the /ignore command, but why should I have to do this and let people carry on talking about a killing disease with no care in the world. I really do hope that a staff member empathises with this.
I'm sorry that you're going through a rough time and were upset. But just utilize /ch leave vip or /ignore the users that are bothering you. There is no way to remove all that offends us from the internet, you can only use the tools available to you to avoid it. I personally feel that as long as this stays in /ch vip, users can just avoid that if they do not wish to be offended.
Welcome to the server. I hope that you've enjoyed everything other than /ch v. I understand that these words may be offensive to you, but you should probably just remember that when these words are used, they don't mean any sort of literal cancer or AIDS. On the internet they are just commonly used words to describe something that is bad... you know, cause cancer and AIDS is bad. My advice to you would be that if this offends you, leave /ch v and stay far, far away. Anyways, again, welcome to the server
While VIP chat rules are more relaxed, inappropriate or derogatory language directed at other users or in excess can still be considered harassment and you can still report it. Otherwise, there's not a lot you can do but ignore the channel or ignore the users. I agree that VIP chat is kind of ridiculous but this is the internet and Andrew frankly doesn't care what anyone says in chat anymore
Steve, not to argue with you, however, I have seen so much directed and excessive harassment and it is completely acceptable. Suggesting to report will just bring shame and potato ratings to a new user. It is best to just leave the chat or ignore pretty much every user.
Just leave the vip chat. It's there so all that "cancerous" talk (see what I did there?) doesn't have to go in global.
Harassment's still harassment, regardless of what chat you're in. Local and town channels are completely free of mod oversight, but you can still report things from those.
Honestly I can agree in wishing we didn't have it all, but I also see some of the good in having VIP to channel that stuff away from global. I think that VIP should HAVE to be joined, not auto-joined- which is part of another suggestion... that I can not find at the moment.
I lost my mom to cancer just last year. She barely made it to the age of 50 so I feel perfectly fine responding to this suggestion. Suggestion denied due to it being cancer and cancer is lame as fuck. Please keep all cancerous discussions in /ch vip. You may leave this channel with /ch leave vip. PS: People need to grow up and stop whining about everything offending them. Seriously dude if you're dealing with someone who has cancer perhaps you should join a support group as opposed to playing on and getting offended by a Minecraft server. Almost the entire population has dealt with someone or something related to cancer, hate to break it to you but you're not special. And if my response offends you, well someone had to tell it how it is, guess it was me.
