Island reset doesn't reset EXP

Brief Description:
When I did a reset on my island, I kept my exp. Not sure if this is a feature (since I keep exp on death) with my rank or a bug.
Instructions:
1. Get exp
2. Reset your island
3. Everything gets reset except for your exp
How many times did you recreate this?:
Once
Result:
Exp stayed (still have my 5.2k exp)
Expected Result:
To lose all my exp
