Ok, this is what happened, I clicked another game, but somehow, even though I was not pressing W, my character kept moving, and moving, and then I heard hearts, then my character died. THIS IS SO FRUSTRATING. I lost 30k worth of stuff(my eff 5 and my pumpkin axe) All because of this glitch, this glitch needs to be fixed.
I've experienced this ~10 times in the past six years since I started playing Minecraft and a lot more often in other programs. This issue happens in Singleplayer as well, so it isn't ECC-related. The way I see it, the client registers the key press (e.g. W), but then doesn't register that the key has been released again and therefore doesn't stop moving. I usually experience this problem in other games, mostly in combination with alt-tab. TL;DR: Not an ECC-specific issue and therefore it cannot be fixed by ECC.
