Ugh mutes are so nice, like let the player play but give us a break from their crap. Much less worry for a mod to hand over a mute instead of a warn.

 

A lot of other servers just mute players for a set amount of time for acting up in chat, why should we go for the ban?

 

I would much prefer to see a mute system that would address situations like these versus the alternative which is when andrew gets sick and tired of seeing this activity as much as we do and finally bans them.
I am afraid there are a few players that are not long for our community if something like this is not done :(

 

I can't hardly be bothered to compile all the long monologues I've gone on about needing mutes in with both user suggestions and staff.

nothing can ruin a nuisance troll's day as much as not being able make his next crappier comeback or escalate the situation. Verbals, warns and bans are feeding into their sick addiction to attention so vile that any attention even negative attention is desired. So reactions are actually reward the troll while mute, they'll actually feel a consequence.

The best advantage of all is it will prevent people from being banned and quitting the game. Huge 3 month bans remove a player from the economy when we need more. Silent or not, they can be here playing. And keeping people on the server but ending disputes is ideal.

 

+1 Muting players would definitely be a lot better for everyone.

 

i agree that's why i suggested the mutes should be ideal to keep down the trolling and annoying people that's would cut down the complaints

If this is implemented, mutes should act as warns, or potentially two if severe enough. Don't make another system. I was originally on the fence about this but @oootopia put me firmly in the +1 camp.

 

Mutes annoy trolls WAY more than straight up bans do.

This. Mutes are annoying for players, especially if they are new to the server. If they break the rules kick them or ban them.

Then don't do things to get muted? Maybe if this gets to people they'll stop trolling.

If they they get muted they are obviously breaking rules. Kick or ban them.

 

The fact that they are annoying is EXACTLY WHY IT SHOULD BE USED. Historically, kicks and bans haven't done shit. Mutes will. If someone comes on to troll, then being muted is more frustrating than being kicked or banned. When you get kicked or banned you still get the feeling you accomplished your goal. When you get muted you just feel ignored. And that gets rid of the fun, big time. (Speaking from experience here!)

 

This is exactly why this suggestion is perfect and needs to be done. Like kuke says below... err... above , kicks or bans are not nearly as effective with trolls as has been proven over and over. I am glad that our server staff is evaluating this as a legitimate suggestion and look forward to hearing their decision when they are comfortable they are doing the right thing.
