    add some sort of /report

allow staff to screenshare them to check for hacks, even if its blatant, allow staff to because it will be funny to see if they try to lie out of it :)

We'd need more people on the hacking team though, +1/-1

You mean like staff to look at people's screens as they're hacking?

This is a blatant intrusion into the privacy of hackers and a violation of their civil liberties guaranteed by the Constitution of ECC.

they would use something like discord to see their screen, and from there they could ask them to install some sort of screenshare software. it would allow them to see common files associated with hacked clients and allow a quicker response than a forum complaint

I mean I highly doubt that if someone is hacking that they will willingly go and screenshare on discord with a staff member to prove themselves guilty.

I think the main problem would be abuse of the /report feature.

And actually getting people to willingly screenshare when they're hacking might also be another big problem here.

    Oh didn’t realize I didn’t finish it.

You can’t force them to do it but if they don’t they're probably trying to hide something - it would be in their best interests to

You can't use that as any sort of evidence against someone for hacking, just because someone doesn't want to screenshare doesn't mean they're hiding anything or cheating, maybe it just means they don't want to have their privacy invaded?

There is no way that you could ever use someone turning down a screenshare as evidence against someone who you suspect is hacking; there could be a million reasons why someone wouldn't want to screenshare, besides hacking.

You want us to accuse someone of cheating because they don't want to screenshare to us?

Honestly the only thing you can do with the /report feature is get an admin to look for head snapping, etc. in /v

As a member of TeamRheas, I would be against people checking if I am hacking or not.

I mean the /report feature sounds awfully a lot like just filing a complaint with evidence, and I'd assume that GA's are fairly busy already with all the apps and everything to have time to personally go into sg games in /v to look for evidence. When as someone who might think someone is hacking you could just gather the evidence yourself to make it easier for the GA+'s.

Even if hackers did screenshare, that'd mean absolutely nothing. One can easily modify the name of a client in the versions folder to make it look like a vanilla client (as well as modify the F2 to make it look vanilla too). Maybe such an invasion of privacy could be justified if it'd yield actual results, but it won't; Most people would reject the idea of strangers on the internet looking at their computer files, and those that would allow it would just modify files in their versions folder to make it look legitiment.

/report is certainly an intriguing idea and has been successfully implemented on other servers, but it isn't compatible with the way ECC does things. Non-SAs literally can't spectate in SG, nor are they allowed to ban hackers on sight, and as far as SAs go, they can't be on all the time to catch hackers (SAs have lives too, you know) meaning that the vast majority such reports would go unanswered while setting a false pretense that one doesn't need to collect proper evidence and can just /report hackers to see them banned.

SG/PvP isn't really active on ECC anyways, and among the remaining users who still do play, most of these would-be hackers are already blocked by AAC. Don't see why administrative resources should be spent in this area when they can be better spent elsewhere.
