IGN-Shotgunboy0130 Suggestion-Being able to ban players from threads you create, and being able to delete their unnecessary posts. Reason-I thinks this would be a good addition to forums, and it would save the mods time from people harassing others on forums. Andrew would just have to make it where you cant ban mods from the thread. Link To This Plugin-N/A
This can easily be abused, there is really no need for this, if a user is causing trouble on the forums you can always click the "report" button and then a moderator will handle it. -1
A user could simply ban all the people he did not like from posting on the thread.....Forums are meant for everyone, they are a way to discuss things, there should be NO BANNING without moderators permission
I would love i xd so thats why i made it a suggestion now if you dont like it and are going to get up tight about it dont post here xd. I will take constructive criticism but no just straight negativity
IMO I just like the idea, like I said before forums are meant for discussions between players etc etc, if a user breaks forum rules tools are in place for action to be taken.
Well, I fear that it is abusable. For example: I make a suggestion. Every single person who has an argument against it, I thread ban. That way after a while, there is no one able to add the negative points to the thread. It makes the thread look like it is being mostly accepted by the community and the only people who can see if a person is thread banned is a staff member. This would make it so the community is tricked into believing the thread is generally accepted. As psychology has stated when enough people are on one side of an issue, the masses are likely to follow assuming that the majority is likely right… Like I said, I can see it being abused and am unsure if it would help or hurt the community. I recognize where you are coming from and can understand why this could be useful, but as with many useful things, abuses can sometimes outweigh the usable properties of an issue. That is what I can see here and why I am saying no.
Im not saying being able to use it like that, im pointing out the times where youre harassed and you wanna remove someone from the thread that is irratating you, youre thinking like that, and it can be disabled in the suggestions forums, im talking like the sttaff applications forum, forsale/wanted forum, and the general discussion forum.
well would you rather have people abusing power like that and banning people who are harrassing or would you rather have irritating people you can just ignore and nobody abusing their power like that.
Well, I do not necessarily see an issue, assuming its possible. I don't have access to the permission on the forum, but, there was a similar permission issue recently with the "Funny Rating." It wasn't possible to just disable it in one part of the forum. We couldn't just stop the funny rating in the Ban Appeals/Complaints section so it was completely removed. I fear that the forum is not nearly customizable enough to do what you are suggesting.
Are you only doing this because dork talks on your threads? You can just ignore the user on the forums. Simple as that, I don't see why this would be needed if you can just ignore the user.
If there is a user causing trouble on a thread you have made - or any thread, for that matter - you can use the Report feature and a Staff member will handle it how they see fit (warning a user, deleting a post, thread banning, or whatever is appropriate). There is no need for all users to have the power to thread ban users and delete their posts when it can so easily be abused AND when Staff can already handle it.
lol. He does comment very rudely sometimes and is always saying bad stuff about people if you say something that is against his suggestion... usually about kicking banned people fully out of the community
I do say bad things about people doing bad things I don't say bad things about people that disagree with my suggestion/position unless they are people that do those bad things. Mendiboi is a great example, I consider him a respected member of the community and even though he disagrees with me often, I don't attack him. I have a rational discussion with him, or at least I try to. I do consistently call for harsher punishments for serial offenders that show no remorse for their actions and prove that by committing the same infraction again. I believe very strongly that the punishments are not strong enough and therefore not effective enough. Yes I may comment rudely, but being rude gets my point across sometimes. I believe this suggestion has already been fleshed out sufficiently and cogent points made by both Revan and Moof.
