The changes I'm making do nothing to make the restrictions more strict - simply more finite. Excessive spamming of shouts is already illegal and I think 10 in a minute is a fair number. The poll is about making the rules more strict - which is not what is happening.
@314 So, what sort of work do you need done? Land clearing? A building or 2? Maybe farm perms? ECD compensation? (are we allowed to pay for stuff like that?) Me and the rest of the minority are interested
Too many comments, not enough care to read them. So I may be repeating something that's already said. But why would someone shout if people are going to ignore it? That's silly... let them shout all they want, it's good for everyone (technically).
Most of the shout spam I see is silly users with their inside jokes that are just meant to confuse/annoy another users. Yes please.
Yes, I agree we should keep shouts, they do take money from the economy and I can see why people use them. Let's try and clarify what's been said: Shouts limited to 10 per minutes Not allow shouts to spam letters/phrases Add shouts to the /ignore list when you ignore someone
Minutes? How many minutes? Other than that, it looks fine to me. However, I do wonder the effectiveness of shout spam rules if they're easily blocked by ignore.
People seem to think that their irritating behaviour is somehow good "because it takes money out of the economy". No-one cares, you can shout all you like but no-one is listening. If you really want to take money out the economy try dropping star tools in lava. It's for the common good!
But, I mean why would we need these rules if /ignore applies to shouts as well? With /ignore out of the picture, I do totally understand why we'd implement these rules. However, when ignore works for shouts, what's the point in banning shout spam? The people spam it will be ignored by users who are annoyed/unhappy with it. At this point you're pretty much discouraging shouts from being used.
This is a good point but let me put this to you: I have no other problems with a user, and as such they are not on my /ignore list. They then proceed to spam a shout. If they are not on my /ignore list, I still see it, even if I don't want to. I can't exactly /ignore everyone on the off chance that they spam a shout several times Just like to add as well thank you to everyone who contributed to this thread! I appreciate you taking your time to do it!
You can't even double post them? Are we trying to have somesort of even-more-absurdly-strict-and-not-fun-and-makes-people-quit-and-generates-suckups type of staff? That's excessive... I've seen issues there there are like !!!!!!SHOUT!!!!!!!! !!!!!!SHOUT!!!!!!!! !!!!!!SHOUT!!!!!!!! !!!!!!SHOUT!!!!!!!! !!!!!!SHOUT!!!!!!!! !!!!!!SHOUT!!!!!!!! !!!!!!SHOUT!!!!!!!! -- etc is an issue, but something like America Applications are open! *a few lines of chat* America Applications are open! *a few lines of chat* America Applications are open! *a few lines of chat* America Applications are open! *a few lines of chat* America Applications are open! seems entirely fine.
That's why nicit suggested the 10 posts per minute rule. Also you seem to be mistaking the double post rule: A double post is like this: Hi Hi Whereas what you said wasn't
