Minecraft Name: OhMrsKittyKat Suggestion: Change the rule that states you must say "Heard xxx" for the bid to actually count. Reason: I've seen quite a few people lately start auctions and sit there and watch the bids go, but never accept any of them because for an auction bid to count for some reason the auctioneer must say "Heard" for it to count. Change this rule because it is basically auctioning off an item and only taking the price you want which would belong in trade chat, not auction. Tagging @Stolio , he agreed with this in game.
I did not agree to what you are stating. The users are free to start bidding at whatever price they choose. It's also up to them if they want to hear a bid. Once they have heard a bid from an individual, they must hear the rest of their bids.
Also, consider if you have a user on ignore, would you then get in trouble for not hearing their bid?
you do know. regardless if your bidding or not if you see someone just passing up bids on their auction. you can file a complaint for a troll auction. i know they get useless slap on the wrist. but thats really all you can do without getting even more people in trouble
Remember a user was auctioning off something and didn't hear any bids, and stated he didn't like the bids so he didn't hear any, you told me you thought it was stupid? That's why I made this suggestion in the first place.
I thought it was a bit silly, however, it's still up to the user that is auctioning to hear our bids.
Well, instead of changing the heard rule a new rule aganist that kind of troll auctioning could be introduced. I think tha could be a good way of dealing with that. :3 Greetings!
I'm not sure how the suggestion is going to change the problem listed. 1)Making someone say "heard" for heard bids doesn't mean they have to hear your bid. 2) Unless the suggestion is saying that all bids MUST be heard, and I think that is exactly what the current rules are trying to avoid. Personally, there are a few people I would not sell to, and will continue to ignore their bids. Forcing me to hear them for a "greater good"... I have to -1 the suggestion.
Number 2 is basically what i'm suggesting. I understand you might not like someone but in an auction you don't get to choose who you get to sell too, it goes to the person who's willing to pay the most. That's how auctions are meant to work. Not have people throw up bids and sit there and wait till you see a bid you like. @Stolio @Revanrose6
If we make all bids required to be heard then people could get back at those who used /ignore on them by simply bidding on their auctions so often that they either 1) Stop auctioning 2) Unignore someone just to not get in trouble or 3) Do get in trouble. Personally I don't ever want to make a rule that contradicts with a function that staff heavily suggest players use. Also, on a second note, this rule is this way so that someone can make a decision as to who they sell to. If you don't trust someone, we shouldn't be forcing you to sell to that person. If I know User A to be a likely scammer then I'd rather avoid him possibly scamming me rather then literally being forced into a situation where I have to attempt to sell him the item or get in trouble. This causes a severe rock and a hard place situations with both issues I brought up.
Then I guess we will have to just deal with the people who choose to bend this rule. You can lock it.
