It's not an advantage, but are you saying you'd only compete in something if you were practically guaranteed the victory? Why would a non-kitted player ever want to play SG if they could never win? I think the concept of a more level playing field would be more appealing to most and would encourage more people to participate in SG and possibly entice them to buy kits. Just my opinion.
A kit is supposed to give an advantage, if there isn't any advantage, there is no point in kits. Just my opinion.
I'm not asking anybody to boycott SG, but if you don't like how SG currently is, just don't play it. Bringing out the weak sides and offering solutions is a very good thing, but I also see a lot of mindless cry and whining over kitters. For those I would suggest to just keep away. I have tried maybe 20 games and after those 20 I found SG to be a serious waste of time, and boring. Case closed, let's move on- Good post and reasoning. This probably would not encourage that many people to buy kit's, since you are going to need a ton of them to succeed in kit world. It's a tricky situation. I completely agree with people who think Something should change. ECC staff has let this snowball roll too big already it looks like. I don't care about SG, or pvp, in Minecraft that much, because I think PvP in Minecraft is not very good (Add ECC SG and it quickly becomes horrible ). But there are guys who PvP a lot and they are in for a big surprise when they join our SG for the first time. Has anybody considered a sort of builder-only SG, to trick the younglings in? To be honest, I think Kit Only SG is not going to happen. Overall +1
I do like your points, they make sense. However, I disagree on how much light kitters like myself would be at a serious disadvantage. You're right, someone with a large amount of kits will always have an advantage against those with little. However, these light kitters will always be fighting heavy kitters in normal games anyway, the only difference will be the lack of non-kit players. Most people with kits only have a few, there's a much smaller amount of players who've really invested in a lot of kits to have a massive advantage over everyone else. Therefore, in these kit arenas you'll be competing mostly against players with a few kits, and while it will be harder to get as many kills as you did against complete noobs, the point is to boost the reward system to a point where its worth the harder competition. To put it in a rather simple analogy, you could compare these kits arenas to a Premium Mining World where all ores are doubled. The amount of kits you own determines what type of "pickaxe" you have. Light kitters would get a stone pick, Medium kitters an iron, and Heavy kitters a diamond. The point is that even though there's those who have an advantage over you, it's still a much better deal to use the Premium World over the normal one. I won't deny that this is not the original use of kits, but they've really spiraled out of control. Ever since + upgrades were added to kits SG was really ruined for non-kit players. This idea is to make SG more fair for everyone, while still giving enough advantages to make kits worth the money that was donated for them.
I haven't played SG for a large portion of months, and many have done the same because of kits. So far, despite the amount of suggestions, angry cries from new players, and people like me and you who stopped playing SG, absolutely nothing has been done. Unless we could actually coordinate a 'strike' of SG across the whole server, it wouldn't really do anything. The idea of a SG for Builders is interesting, like a smaller step towards my idea. I think it's a good suggestion, though it could be misleading to Builders who don't expect to be thrown into this mosh pit of kits as soon as they rank up. However, some non-kit arenas are better than none I suppose? I'd expect the amount of people asking for account resets would increase as well if this was implemented
-1 no no no no no. I make money by killing people without kits. If your tired of people with kits, there's a simple fix. dONT PLAY SG
+1 I understand all the money and related stuff to kits. Lets all be honest, there are rarely full sgs. Most are avoided due to kits. This is a good suggestion, more thought out than the people saying "Remove kits completely and give refunds". I think it would work, because the more money spent on kits gives you better stuff. Kit arenas would probably have a much higher pay then there is atm. The nonkits will probably be close to nothing and only for the fun of it.
I feel that if this were to be implemented, it would be a great new addition to SG. I am addicted to SG, along with many users on this server, and it is a main "money source" to many players on the server. But now, with kits and users buying many of them especially with ++, SG is no longer fun/no longer a money source for the users that cannot afford kits, or want to put their money towards something else other than kits. Also, I see many new builders look for an easy money source, so they go to SG, instead of buying farm perms/a pickaxe to mine with. Once they encounter kitters, and die within 2 or 3 seconds, many rage and quit the server because they cannot make money easily or because they're mad that they were 1 shotted by an over powering user. I do understand that many users that have spent lots of money towards SG Kits and implementing this is "unfair" to them because it is easy to over power users without any kits, and putting kitters against kitters would be much harder to earn money. Anyways, I understand why many users with lots of kits don't like this suggestion because it is very easy to over power users without any kits, and oneshot them, earning a lot of money per day. I can understand why anyone with kits would dislike this suggestion, but then again, think about the players who can't afford buying kits, and when trying to earn money ingame, they get beaten into dust by over powering kitters. I +1 this suggestion.
However, after speaking with many users who have bought over $200 in kits alone, I noticed that some of their responses were 'to make sure I win over all of the playerbase who plays SG, not just other kit users'. How would this appease those who have responses similar to this? This is a simple question for friendly debate, not intended for flame.
We should do a strike or something! We've been suggesting and asking and suggesting and nothing gets done. At some point in time we're going to have to get staff to seriously consider these suggestions. Boycotting SG sounds like a good way to do it without getting banned, as long as we get enough non-kitters who play SG (like me) to stop playing. I'd gladly be one of the first ones to do it.
But the point is that you wouldn't be playing just other kitters. We could make the non-kit arenas 8-10 players, so that some non-kitters would still play in the regular arenas, too.
Looking at all the threads against kits, nobody will join a regular game. They will wait because they know the outcome. Plus, a lower maximum of players in a game would get too complicated.
It wont. And that is a cocky answer lol. Donating 200 USD for PvP in ECC is done at your own responsibility and it doesn't mean that Devs now have to build you a personal arena where you are completely OP and can just kill everybody for fun. To put it that way, it even sounds pathetic. EDIT: Trust me, the issue here is not current PvP donors getting hurt, but the lack of future PvP donations that these changes will bring. The Kitball seems to have rolled so big that nothing can stop it now without donors getting hurt. And seeing how much negativism there is against these suggestions, it is safe to assume that being a 200+ ECC PvP donor must on a damn good spot, meaning it may actually need regulation. I have little experience etc, etc, but I don't really see a solution for this problem(without donors getting really hurt). Other than, as said before, make a Builder only arena, to obviously miss lead them to believe SG is not that bad and probably hook a few more players into ECC. More members is good for everybody. With a Builder-only SG the the sifter would be tighter and there is a good chance we have less new members to turn down the server after couple SG-s. As for the rest, you probably are going to want that 200+ PvP donor 'rank' if you think about doing serious SG. Currently I don't see how this could change so that both sides will be happy
