Minecraft Name: dork1877 Suggestion: If you are caught in a lie (regardless of the severity) you should automatically get a 3 day temp ban from the forums. Reason: As it stands right now there is absolutely no incentive to tell the truth in an appeal. Only to "see what you can get away with" Ex: "Will they believe this? -Yes? Awesome! No punishment! -No? Come up with another lie. Other Information: No disincentive to lie means there is an inventive to lie to try to get away with the action you were banned for. +299000000 Now on topic. I find the fact that users lie in appeals wrong and unacceptable. In case they do actually appeal, it means they are ready to face what they did wrong and move on. Trying to hide it from: a)the mods (pointlass as they can see your ban reason) b)other people. will get them nowhere. Attempting to hide it means they're not ready to move on, thus not ready to appeal. What about they reconsider it in those 3 days?
exactly my point, the 3 day forum ban would make them think about what they did. *Off topic* I should've said +c (instead of + 2.99*10^8)
+pi, however, I am torn on this issue since I do see evidence of this being done quite a bit by kuke and Andrew, especially lately. It could be difficult for all moderators to discern the actual lies from the truth in some instances and it is impossible for kuke and andrew to be involved in every ban. I of course can't speak for the staff, but it does seem they are getting a little tired of it also.
If they are truly tired of it maybe they should start issuing more severe punishments for it. I've seen very few "take 3 days"or "take a week. My point is that it should be SOP for all staff. If they lie and it can be proven to staff, then forum ban. I only choose 3 day days because that is how long the auto temp ban is. OhMrsKittyKat I would love to see it longer. You want people to stop? Punish them for doing it.
It scares me to death to think that I agree with you on something! Just kidding, you know I appreciate you and have agreed with you on many things before. I think these type of threads do help staff understand some of the frustration and I have seen many instances where even though not acknowledged sometimes, the staff does take what is said in consideration. Patience is a Virtue.
I think this is generally a good idea, however let's say staff made a mistake. (yes they are human and make mistakes like the rest of us. It may not be common but it happens.) So hypothetically if a person was banned for something he was not guilty of, and then he tries to appeal claiming he is innocent. After that his/her appeal is denied due to a moderator thinking he/she is lying. Then if this idea were to be added to this server the person would experience a forum ban for nothing. Now while the player is forum banned he is, of coarse, still banned on the server. Then his forum bans wears off. After that this can go 3 main ways. 1.He/she leaves the server due to his unpleasant events here. 2. convinces staff that he is innocent and is unbanned as should be. Or 3. the player pleads guilty due to inability to convince staff he/she is innocent, and leaves the ban with a permanent scar on his/her reputation. Out of all 3 of these scenarios 2 would be affected by your suggestion. The effect is a innocent player spending a unnecessary time off the server. Note his/her time off the server is not how long his forum ban is, but until he appeals which is in some cases a long time.
That is a matter of opinion rather than fact, therefore I can not argue about this with you. Edit:That really depends on how long the ban is btw
+1 4-5 day temp ban so they can think about what they did. If they lie again punishment will increase by increments of 2 weeks.
