Suggestion: Wiping a users SG stats/points and removing their SG medals if the user is found to be using an illegal client and therefore banned for hacking.
Reason: With our current system a user can use an illegal modification and accumulate hundreds of thousands of points before being caught allowing them to accumulate many forum medals in the process. That same user can return eventually to an account with hundreds of thousands of illegal obtained SG points and forum medals which were also illegally obtained.
This is hardly an incentive to put people off from using an illegal client which gives them an unfair advantage in SG, they can just take a slap on the wrist(eg. a week long ban) and then just return like nothing happened. People who have earned their stats/medals legitly feel as if they're dis-valued, why work hard for 300 hours when you can get it in less than half the time with very small repercussions.
You may think that a full reset may be harsh but this sort of behavior needs to stop, it's not only bad for the economy but it's also bad for the user-base. Hopefully by doing this it will give those who thought about using an illegal modification an incentive not too as well as providing those who play legitly feel more value in their accomplishments.
Any Other Information: I understand that they're some issues regarding the resetting of SG stats but I believe that the pros easily outweigh the cons.

Not enough is done to hackers. SG wipe would be more effective.-

+1 Definitely. If you want to hack to gain an advantage, then you deserve to lose everything you've earned.

What about the money a user gets from hacking sg. They are effectively cheating in thousands of dollars into the economy.

I think this is another great suggestion - like most of the SG suggestions that are just like it.
The problem is:
If you look at the literally hundreds of SG suggestions (some just like this one) not much seems to be going to change.
How else do you expect someone who has not been able to purchase hundreds of dollars worth of kits to even keep up with the massive windfall profits that are available to SG players?
Mining? Farming? - Old school and is the has been of the ECC economy.
Finally, what happens when a mistake is made in the determination of hacking? While better at finding hackers, there have been some in the past found not guilty - will they receive all of their rewards back?-

+1 of you cheat to get something then that something (in this case SG points) shouldn't be yours
-
+1 I couldn't agree more. Lots of people have been banned for hacking and yet, they still have all the SG points from when they were hacking, making it an unfair advantage.

And balance wipes. Several users who have hacked use the large rewards from hacking for their good. We should do anything in our power to get rid of hackers.

Unfortunately, the incentive is far too great and the punishments far too lenient to expect the hacking to stop or even slow down. We just have to face it that it is just going to be a part of our economy - the good news is that scamming seems to have slowed down since hacking is so much easier to do it seems.
-
I assume anything like this would be handled at the time the player appeals, not at the time of their ban. Therefore nobody we find 'not guilty' on appeal would be punished like this.
Balance wipes are already something we try to do but ultimately people aren't getting banned for hacking with money in their balance to wipe. This is probably because these kind of complaints are public, so if you are hacking and see one, you just stash your funds elsewhere.-

May i also ask if this is implemented,
Everyone who has been found guilty of hacking previously, do there accounts get wiped?
Even if they were banned a few years ago?
Will you be able to take off certain amounts rather then a complete wipe?-

First time banned for hacking: balance whipe unless over 100k (then 100k cleared) and loss of 10k sg points
Second time: balance whipe unless over 500k, loss of 20k sg points
Third time: perma ban, if they manage to some how appeal, balance whipe, sg points reset rank reset (donation features remain).
And no, this is not to harsh. If your stupid enough to download a program every server on minecraft doesn't allow, you should be facing extreme consequences. It's common sense not to hack.
