Lotto teaming ('lotto scamming') is very different to loan scamming. To say that if we don't enforce lotto teams, we shouldn't enforce loan scamming is a pretty stupid thing to say. Everything about a loan deal is certain - The amount, the timeframe, how long late fees are to be paid for, who is to be paid etc - It is extremely easy to enforce a loan.

Now lotto teaming is filled with difficulties and variables. What happens if there isn't enough winnings to split between the team, or if someone you are teamed with also has a team of their own which they haven't told you about. Think about that last one for a second, the amount of lotto agreements between people is crazy - Those of you who lotto regularly probably know what I'm talking about with the number of people you have to pay back if you win.

This is only made worse by the fact that lotto team 'agreements' tend to be something like "team? buy 20". What does that even mean in terms of an agreement which needs to be certain and enforceable? Sure it's possible to write an in depth agreement for every lotto, detailing what happens if there isn't enough winnings etc, but lets be honest, is that realistically going to happen?

To add to all of the above, I feel like it will only lead to more work for the staff. My experience with players collecting evidence of agreements is that generally, people aren't great at it. I anticipate that any change in this rule would lead to a lot of work for staff having to work out if they agreement was made for the lotto which the person in the team won - Something which won't always be straight forward.

Finally, my biggest issue with enforcing lotto teams: It's a lottery. It's gambling and has taking the above into consideration, there should be risks. Regardless of whether you team or not, on an individual level when you buy X-tickets, you are still going to have the same change of winnings regardless of teams. If you want a greater chance of winning, grow a pair and buy more tickets yourself.
