    We're not "full" of repeat offenders if most players on ECC haven't been banned.

    Anyway, in a community like this, you'd always have repeat offenders, and so would any other server that allows you to appeal. We do have some repeat offenders, but we must remind ourselves that they're members of the community too, and many of them contribute to the community too. Many staff members too, have been banned before and even some have been banned multiple times before getting staff.

    Completely getting rid of a portion of community members is never the way to go.

    Tempban again. Maybe just a bit longer.
    Ok, maybe this is not clear: when I say ban, I mean permaban. And in my logic, "permaban" = "I don't want this person around here".

    Therefore:
    • if you do something minor, you will not be permabanned: just warned, tempbanned, or whatever;
    • if you do something serious that makes you unwanted in the community, you get permabanned;
      • for this reason, if you have been permabanned (and it was not a mistake to ban you), then of course you are someone that we don't want around here: otherwise we would have not permabanned you in the first place!

    That's a corrupt system. If you have to essentially buy your way back, which is a bribe, that's completely corrupt and unethical. Furthermore, would someone who accidentally scams someone be permabanned? Scamming is a major, major crime in my eyes, but it doesn't constitute for a permaban in most cases.

    So until you actually define when someone is qualified to be permabanned, and how the community would actually not want this person around, there is no possible way to define this.

    PS - Andrew decides permabans and I don't really consider him to always feel with the majority of the community. You phrase it as if the community decides permabans, so I just wanted to throw this tidbit in there.

    I don't believe in payments to void a punishment, as Knears states clearly, its basically a bribe.

    If you break the rules, you serve the time. -1
