Suggestion:
I am suggesting that we make the punishments for exposing other user's private information more severe.
Reason:
I think that this would be a good suggestion because if my irl infotmatin was released withou my permission I would hate it, I think that almost everyone would hate it because if they wanted it exposed they would of done it themselves.
They are exposing your information in chat, for everyone to see. If someone released my information that I never wanted exposed all the punishment the person is getting is a warn? So someone exposes your someones Snapchat, Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, Kik and Skype without you knowing all they get is a warn?
Other Information:
Please think about if you were the person in this situation, if someone exposed all your information to everyone who was on the server at the time:
Please note: I have ABSOLUITLY nothing agenst the ECC Community, it's just the fact if this happens.
Thank you
Drew

While I agree with you, I feel like defining "private" information would be difficult. Everyone feels different about their information. For example, some value their real name and age as private information, while others don't.
However, +1 (ish)-

This should be enforced more strictly because what if someone is very strict about their private information, then this would be suggested then, but I'm suggesting ir now rather then later.

Vintage_Gamer BuilderBuilder ⛰️ Ex-President ⚒️⚒️ Premium UpgradeNo, I understand what you are getting at. What I am saying is, how staff determine what is and isn't a users private information as it may differ from person to person.

That would be the staff's opinion, there should be like a list aka
- Social Media
- Phone Numbers
- Anything that isn't related to ECC That is private information

Vintage_Gamer BuilderBuilder ⛰️ Ex-President ⚒️⚒️ Premium UpgradeThis is my point. How do staff know what is or isn't private to people? I have made this clear in the above post.
Staff may find something "private" and warn or ban someone when the user the "private" information was about may not care about others knowing it. Thats what I mean. -
Babylonian_ BuilderBuilder ⛰️ Ex-President ⚒️⚒️Well another way of some one doing breach of privacy is some one posting a picture of some one in chat or forums which mods can 100% tell if it's breach of privacy.

Vintage_Gamer BuilderBuilder ⛰️ Ex-President ⚒️⚒️ Premium UpgradeEnforcement of ones privacy is a tough one IMO. Especially in this day and age.

The moderator handling could just ask the user if he/she considers it to be private/public info.-

After discovering that someone was only warned for exposing another player's private info, I'm now considering quitting ECC. I take my privacy very seriously, and if a warning is all that is given for exposing my info....-

Vintage_Gamer BuilderBuilder ⛰️ Ex-President ⚒️⚒️ Premium UpgradeIf you don't mind me asking, what was exposed? Name, age, location etc?
-
ninjadude501 BuilderBuilder ⛰️ Ex-Resident ⚒️The only reason I was vague is I don't know if I'm allowed to link to a specific complaint. If I'm allowed to do that, though, I'd be happy to.
In this case, the player's name was exposed.-

Vintage_Gamer BuilderBuilder ⛰️ Ex-President ⚒️⚒️ Premium UpgradeThis is what I mean. That player obviously didn't like their name being exposed. Others don't, such as myself. I don't mind players knowing my name is Connor, whilst others don't.

ninjadude501 BuilderBuilder ⛰️ Ex-Resident ⚒️All right, so how about this:
Don't ask player A for player B's personal information (age, birthdate, location [anything more specific than country, or continent if their country is small]), and if player B gives out information about player A that is classified as personal and player A doesn't want to be known, give player B a severe punishment.
Also, I'd say have staff come up with several bits of information that they classify as personal, and then make it against the rules for anyone except for player A to give out player A's personal information, but make it optional for player A to prosecute anyone that gives out their personal info. This, in essence, means that player A can give out as much information as he/she wants, while player C can still have their information private with a harsh punishment for giving it out.
I understand the possibility for false complaints with this. But really, I'd say that if it isn't readily available on their forum profile, then just direct anyone that wants to know personal info about player A to player A.
But really, why would you ask player B for player A's personal info?
While typing this I came up with an idea for how to do the punishments. I'd appreciate it if only staff would respond to this part as they have the most information about this stuff, but I understand that other people still are going to.
How about we make it so that handing out another person's information, if you cannot prove that they originally gave it to you in such a way that made you think it wasn't personal (such as in global, or in local at spawn, or they specifically said it wasn't personal for them), gives a minimum 3 month ban and perhaps a balance wipe.
However, if you can prove that they had said it before in a public place or said to you that they didn't consider it personal, it's reduced to a 24-hour temp-ban.
I'm also thinking that if they had told you in the past week that they didn't consider it personal, then you don't have any action taken against you.
Staff: How does that sound? Too harsh in places? Too soft in others?-

Vintage_Gamer BuilderBuilder ⛰️ Ex-President ⚒️⚒️ Premium UpgradeI still stand by my previous points. This is too complex and could most likely be manipulated.
