Why would we want to reduce the size? Last thing we want to happen is it being mined out in the first week after it's been reset...
At the current size it is nowhere close to getting mined out, at the end of the month I still see quartz around spawn. I can assure you that won't be a problem.
Bump Also for anyone who would like to post this is not a pvp server: This is not a mining server, this is not a farming server, this is not an sg server, yet they are a part of the economy and thus we make changes to them when needed. PvP is no different then this except for the fact its been so neglected for so long.
Haven't responded to this yet, have I. I think that it would be a good idea to allow /wild or reduce the nether size, but only if this is necessary following the release of the hub / increase in advertising.
Then your comment is pointless. If I feel the need to voice my opinion on a suggestion and give no reason for it, is there really a point in saying it? For example: "Pituitary Gland... No reason, just pituitary gland" is very random post which serves no purpose. Other than the possibility that I could thoroughly enjoy pituitary glands, the post really serves no purpose, nor is relevant. Mind giving us reason? It can range from 1 to unlimited words. As long as it gives the reader a general idea of your purpose of posting then that's perfect. #English101
I'd like to thank you on behalf of the whole server for your very thorough and detailed response. This has generated valuable insight and gave many good points to be opposed to this suggestion. I have never seen one post longer than this, and I'd just like to thank you for your insightful response. Excuse me sir, but that was extremely rude. Ze7707 wrote a detailed 10 paragraph response to the suggestion, something that'd get him promoted to ServerAdmin if sent as application to andrew. His response was extremely detailed, inspirational and insightful into the deep issue of the Size of the Nether in a minecraft server. Again, I'd like to congratulate him on behalf of the whole server.
With the month coming to an end I strongly encourage people to go see how little of the nether has been mined out. With a reset coming relativaly soon I feel this is definitely something that should be considered.
Regardless of how much has been mined out, I still feel that the size of the Nether is fine and does not need to be any smaller. As a matter of fact, there is plenty of valuable ores in large areas of the mining world as well. Hopefully the Hub will bring you some satisfaction in finding the PVP opportunities that you seek.
