    I'm sorry, what?

Have you been on the internet? The fact is, every child WILL be exposed to cursing in their lifetime. Most families do it, kids at your school will do it (I'm guessing some of you were home-schooled), hell, I've had my teachers do it.

I honestly don't have a problem with it. Come on. Just because one person says one swear-word on the internet does not mean they should be warned. Live with it. Its not going to stop.

You do know, this is the Internet right, and also, if their parents cuss, 8/10 times they will say it once, get in trouble, not say it again for a while. They will learn their lesson and should know not to say stuff they shouldn't.

Just because lots of people do something doesn't mean they should. Almost everyone disobeys the speed limit. Does that make it right? Tons of people commit crimes every day. Humans will never eradicate crime. Does this mean we should just let them continue? To be more relevant, people talk of or refer to a certain topic almost constantly. Is it allowed on ECC? No.

No, it's not going to stop. There's nothing that's bad that will ever stop. But that is far from a logical reason to allow things to happen.

Yes, people commit crimes everyday, but cursing is not a crime. They are words, not scamming or anything more severe.

The most important point is that if no action is taken for even the slip-ups, builders and others not so familiar with the rules will think swearing is OK. They'll swear, get warned/kicked, and think there's a double standard. It would be extremely confusing to not warn for all language. For slip-ups, perhaps a mild warning--more of a friendly reminder--would work, as something has to be said so no one thinks swearing is allowed.

    Easy: they read the rules.

As I said, not everyone reads the rules. Especially builders. They usually read the rules once they apply for Resident. If they are kicked/banned for something they thought was allowed, they may think there's a double standard, or the staff is inconsistent, and decide not to stay.

What I'm saying is that at least something needs to be said every time someone swears, warning or not, so no one gets the idea it's allowed.

I'm gonna have to disagree, they should know if they say it multiple times.

Your post doesn't seem to address the issue at all. You only are pointing out facts we've already come across like "The fact is, every child WILL be exposed to cursing in their lifetime."

And then you seem to give some examples of who does it, which really doesn't matter in this situation.

Then you point out how "sputnick587 thinks it's okay".

You only have given me a single fact and your opinion.

Lol, this is beside the point. They are both bad things, some worse, some better. Unless you start deciding country laws I think it's a reasonable comparison.

You seem to think that builders will *magically* figure out how to do everything right. Just *magically* read the rules and *magically* know that they shouldn't swear multiple times, even though their allowed to swear on 80% of other games.

Agreed :D I haven't had a good long debate like this for quite a while. I really enjoy it.

No, poke is trying to say if a builder cusses, he'll get warned, which makes no sense. If they say it multiple times, mods will say what was wrong.

    I see what you mean.

But I still agree with what pokeboy said. As with all my reasoning before, it's not good to have swearing.

They are just words when used in a "swearing" manner.

I'm going to go slightly offtopic. You or your child will be exposed to them unless you put them in a hermetically sealed box for their entire childhood. The internet, TV, and especially school and public places. I teach my son that it isn't socially acceptable in most situations to use certain words. But other than that they are adult words (he's 5) and he can't say them yet.

Also think about why there are such things as curse words? Why do you get offended by certain words that aren't directed at you?

There are such things as curse words because human beings can't control themselves, and they come up with swear words to release anger.

I get offended by them for many reasons. One of which is that 95% of them mean something bad. They refer to something bad. If someone screamed "COMPUTERS!" at the top of their lungs as a swear word, I would not nearly be offended by it as another swear word.

Then why let there be rules at all? Let's just ignore everything.
