Denied Suggestion - <Sportsbook Overtime Insurance>

Suggestion: Sportsbook Insurance

- Okay so I know there are a lot of Sportsbook players on EcoCityCraft, so my suggestion is a feature that provides insurance for an Overtime outcome. Lets say I place a bet on the Los Angeles Kings to 'WIN' an NHL match, but I also want to pay a little extra to cover an Los Angeles Kings Overtime win. Normally a player would have to bet on a 'DRAW' in order to receive payout.

My suggestion is to include a small feature known as 'INSURANCE' , this is something you see in a lot of Sportsbooks or casino games, such as blackjack. For the cost of a little extra (maybe 10-25% of the players bet), the player has the opportunity to purchase 'INSURANCE' along with their original 'WIN' bet that adds an Overtime win outcome to their bet.

This could be a set percentage (perhaps 10-25%) that is added to the cost of the bet, however it will grant insurance if their team wins in overtime. I'm sure many Sportsbook players have struggled with the thought that their team might win in an Overtime. I sure have struggled with this.

Case A:
If the Los Angeles Kings win in Overtime, without insurance, I lose my original bet.

Case B:
If the Los Angeles Kings win in Overtime, with insurance, I win my original bet (but I payed 10-25% more to place it)

Reason:

Alright, so this is a small adjustment to a pretty good system already. However, I can't tell you how many times I wish this was a feature when making a bet on any team.

The problem with the draw bet remaining as it is, lets say a player bets on Los Angeles to win, and then also bets on a draw as well. Then lets say the opposing team wins in overtime, this player still gets payed out, although it would have been better if they had just purchased insurance for their victory outcome. Sportsbook isn't supposed to be easy, if I wanted, I could go bet 50k on any team to win, and then 25k on that match to draw as well, suddenly, I've given myself a 66% chance at an outcome, with much less risk than usual. Over time, Sportsbook would pay out way too much money into the economy, causing it to have to be phased out and used less to prevent the over/creation of money in ECC.

A feature like this would regulate duplicate-outcome betting. You'll often see someone place 250k on a 'WIN' and 100k on a 'DRAW' for a match, because they believe their team will win, but perhaps it will be in an Overtime.

Atleast with insurance, this process is regulated, and provides a clearer opportunity for players to take advantage of an outcome like this. All in all, I think this provides a more fair playing field to all participants, and I think it makes the Sportsbook on ECC a lot more enjoyable for the majority.
