name: Bad_Boy1_3 Suggestion: for a player to be able to buy using ecd or real life currency a town name change. Reason: Alot of the players right now on ecc that got their first towns years ago. This means that some may have regret the names they chose for their towns so by allowing a feature like that it will bring more money to the server (since many people would like to do it) and i do not think it is very hard (programming wise). That is why i believe that this would thrive on ecc
This is something that we have thought about in the past. From a capability point of view, SA+ could do it now without any need for new plugins/permission changes etc. The reason we are hesitant is because we aren't sure how is the best way to implement it, or if there even is a good enough way. ECC has well over 3 years of towns now, all which has been documented on the forums in various ways. It isn't as simple as just changing the name in-game. How do we best make a note of it on the forums? What happens to contracts which have been made for a town named ABC if we change the name to XYZ - And how do we make a note of this for to 'link' it to a contract in some way. It also involves finding all the contracts etc. If we were to allow changing names, we would likely prevent anyone else from using the old name in the future - How do we best keep a note of that that doesn't make do town applications for GA+ a nightmare. I can see why this is a very appealing idea, and as I said firstly, it has been discussed fairly recently. There are just quite a lot of practical consequences of name changes which need thinking through.
I just thought. Maybe make a thread that notifies you of name change (if necessary because of contracts and stuff) and gives all links to contracts with old name and should also appear first when somebody searches the old name? Or sort of how town transfers work? Editting title?
