Basically they would donate money in a similar way to stock trader or sportsbook and when they have donated an x amount of money the recieve a medal and maybe some special privileges, but I am still willing to stick with the medal. Great idea, but this could be abused, like someone would donate 5k to their buddy, and then get it right back because they want to get the medal.
No so basically it would be sort of like stocks so there would be a list of users who have lost money from scammers and a user would donate them money the same way stocks work. It wouldn't be just random donations just for people who have lost something or something similar to this
Money could be donated to an official fund owned by the server, which would then transfer the money to scammed users according to its possibilities
So like a /donate (using ECD) then like at the end of the month(or after how long) have the money split and paid out? The idea is pretty neat but, were do we start the payments(2011/2012/2013/2014/2015?). People were scammed since the server started. So maybe people could file a application to enter into the Scam fund? The idea is pretty interesting maybe it could work. Also would be great if the poll votes were public.

+1 Love the idea, But nothing will happen, youll get the same answer that all the other suggestions to help scammed victims. You'll be told that you are free to run this yourself and not need the server backing.
That's because there's a big problem with it. When the server officially helps paying a user back, then users will take more risks with transactions, because they'll get the money back anyway. It takes a risk factor out of taking loans and payment plans and stuff. And it will almost always end badly. the only reason I could see it used is if it was a willclo-level scamming problem, but the community solved that without official server backing.
This problem could be solved in the application by asking if they donated to a builder, or a player that hasn't been on for a certain amount of time. It could also ask why the loanee needed to take out the loan. If the staff member reviewing the application thinks that the loaner didn't think of the risks that could happen with a loan, they are not granted the sum of money.
I like your intentions here, but I don't think there's a good way to implement this without problems. There's probably two ways this could go about: (1) player-to-player donations, or (2) player-to-server-to-player donations. 1. Player-to-player payments would be hard to track. I could easily just pay player x $50,000, say it was a donation, apply and get the forum medal, and have player x pay me back after. This may also require administration to check logs to prove that it was a donation. You'd almost need some sort of contract agreeing that the players wouldn't just pay each other back, but that could be worked around easily as well. 2) player-to-server-to-player payments would probably work better than the first idea, but still. We'd have to go see who paid the server account, award them the medal, and go through the process of redistributing all that money. Also: adding a medal for donating ecd would sort of take the point out of donating. For example, look at jmichael's gig from a while back. He raised tons of money, and he as well as all the donators probably didn't expect anything material in return, because they actually wanted to help. Adding a medal for this would turn kindhearted donating into simply paying $100k for a medal. I do believe you have good intentions, but I don't see this folding out quite well. Sorry, -1
