I suggest checking to see if there's any similar suggestions out there before posting one. I believe this has been suggested and denied multiple times due to very good reasons.

 

1. Town move application x2.
2. Place a new town where the old town was located. Name it whatever you want.

Contracts , town warps and many other things would need to be changed. You could no longer use the town name to search for feature applications of a town (PvP area et cetera). Also, how would we handle it if someone creates a new town using a town name that previously existed?

TL;DR: It's an administrative nightmare.
