In Game Name: Georgie0417What part of EcoCityCraft is this suggestion for: VMR ServerShort title for your suggestion: Remove Obtainables from kit rareWhat are you suggesting: To remove Nether Stars and Beacons from kit rare drop tableWhy is this a good addition for EcoCityCraft?: Removing obtainable items from the kit rare drop table would make it easier to roll the actual unobtainablesOther information: Prior to 1.14 I would never have made this suggestion because of how mob spawning worked in 1.13. Back then, you would have to wait hours upon hours to get a single wither skull.... Now, however, the mob spawning is fixed to the point where it takes 1-2 hours to get 20 wither skulls. Leaving the sell hand requirement of these two items at 3 a piece would require an addition 18 wither skulls. Which, speaking from experience, would only add roughly 2 hours to your time for booklet.Plugin or custom addition: N/AOne suggestion per form: I Understand.
Huge -1. Yes, spawning has increased, but you realistically can not get 20 skulls within 1-2 hours. Wither skeletons dropping a skull have a 2.5% chance of dropping (increased to 5.5% with looting3). Perfect probability has you obtaining 55 skulls per 1000 kills. To obtain Wither skulls, nstars, and beacons from your suggestion, you will need 38 skulls. Going back to your “20 skulls within 1-2 hours,” for a sec: with an extremely ideal setup (nether fortress that has a bounding box over a lava ocean; slabs, buttons, or lava over nether rack or other nether bricks; and a wither rose, tamed wolf, iron golem grinder), you can get some pretty high numbers, but you still need double digit hours of work before you even begin (and that’s not including the prep you need beforehand to get a looting sword, good armor to not die while creating the grinder, and to even find a nether fortress). To put it into perspective, last week I grinded wither skeletons using an alternative grinding method (that was about 60-65% as efficient as the top grinder). I collected 24 wither skeleton skulls (as I lost one by accident) in the span of almost 10 straight hours of grinding with a loot3 Sharp5 sword (not including any prep or setup). I didn’t count how many skeletons I killed, but I can guarantee you that it was more than 1000. I obtained less than 3/4 the number of skulls you are suggesting the new requirement for booklet to be. Honestly, not many people even attempt booklet anymore because they are turned off by the idea of collecting certain items. I feel like booklet already has a perfect difficulty as it stands. It’s already going to get more difficult come the 1.16 update, so I don’t want to turn more people away from the start. PS: I rarely got a netherstar or beacon from the rolls, so you must’ve just been unlucky
-1 I don’t play VMR, but I have attempted to kill the wither on a single player server. Skulls suck to obtain, let alone in a span of a week
+1 Wither skulls are quite easy to obtain now with the increased spawns. As a veteran vmr player I agree that it would not add that much additional time to booklet completion and free up actual unobtainable items in /cc. As for your comment on obtaining it within a week, you already have to get 23 wither skulls for the wither skulls, skull banner pattern, and wither roses, so the additional 18 really isn't that hard since you'll already have the set up and looting 3 sword
Since the 1.14 update with changes to mob spawning I’ve farmed for wither skulls on 4 separate occasions. In a single sitting of 2 hours without a farm I managed to get 20. Ive seen someone get so much as 30 from a single sitting. Getting the skulls isn’t hard at all. It can be time consuming and even frustrating at times, but so are tridents and enchanted golden apples. You don’t see people asking to have those added to the chests.
Actually, yes I have, but I digress. It seems the reason you want these out is to give better odds for other items. There are 92 rare items (including dragon egg, nether star, and beacon. Removing tall fern and double grass). That is a 1/92 chance to get a specific item, or a 1.087% chance. If we remove nether star and beacon (keeping dragon egg for right now), it’s a 1/90 chance or a 1.111% chance. Remove dragon egg, it’s a 1/89 chance or a 1.124% chance. To recap better: Keep all three items - 1.087% chance Remove nstar items - 1.111% chance Remove all three items - 1.124% chance It’s literally a 0.037 difference if we keep all three items versus removing them. It’s not going to make a difference at all
IMO, the difference is so minuscule that it doesn’t really matter. However, these items ARE obtainable, and in fact quite easily obtainable. That’s why I think they should be removed.
What I’m about to say is not to argue or (for lack of better terms) shit on you chundi as I have a great deal of respect for you, but mob skulls are also quite obtainable as well, yet you said in another thread “Mob skulls are completely different considering you need the ability to control the weather to get them, which is impossible.” IMO, skulls are just as easy to obtain as three dragon eggs would be (which was claimed to be easy/a fun challenge in the other post). Since weather does actually change in VMR, you can also “easily” (by the same definition of easy that y’all are stating for both these suggestions) obtain them with a channeling trident. The point being, just because something is easy to one person or a small group of people doesn’t mean it is easy to everyone
The difference is that no matter what happens, the dragon egg WILL be there if you get to the end first, there is no question about it. Will a thunder storm happen during the few (or many) hours you spend online VMR? I don't know, probably, but maybe not. In my experience attempting to get mob heads, the weather is what makes it so difficult and ultimately leaves it up to chance. First, you need to create some sort of structure to store the mobs. Next, you have to actual get the mobs, name tag them, and then acquire a channeling trident which is a challenge in itself. Then you need to wait for a lightning storm, use your trident on the creeper and have it NOT blow up until the exact moment it's next to your target mob (which is hopefully still there) (sidetone: 1 creeper = 1 head, not multiple). Lightning storms only last 0.5-1 Minecraft day (10-20 minutes). During the entire week (each of the 2 of us playing ~12 hrs a day) we attempted this we had 2 lightning storms happen, and with the mob butcher, and other factors you have to worry about (e.g. creepers exploding your other mobs prematurely) ultimately we only got 2 heads. If you're able to get 3 creeper, 3 skelly, and 3 zombie heads, I'd be shocked. For these reasons I put these items in with the totems now. Possible? Yes, but too much up to luck. But hey if you're up for the challenge we can create another suggestion for that. tl;dr To compare the mob heads with the dragon head is laughable. The dragon head is quote honestly one of those items in VMR that you just get while looking for something else. There is virtually no challenge (other than the dragon of course) but once you're in there it's as simple as placing a few blocks.
I apologize. The page I read for my initial information said rainstorm. The wiki (which I should’ve checked first) said thunderstorm. You’re right
Please make VMR suggestion on a per item removal basis. This suggestion is asking to remove obtainables, the description states netherstars/beacons, and the discussion is about wither skulls.
