Main ServerShort title for your suggestion:
Rule clarification: Alts & ECD TransferWhat are you suggesting:
Clarify the main server's alt account rules by changing them to either of the following (worded however you like). Why is this a good addition for EcoCityCraft?:
- You are allowed to transfer money from your main account to one of your alt acconts, but you're not allowed to do it vice versa.
- Remove the green rule from the screenshot below to clear up any confusion and make any financial interaction illegal. (Not my preferred solution.)
The red and green rules contradict each other.Other information:
The alt account rules make no sense. I know that I've hated them for a long time, but at this point I don't remember whether:
I honestly don't know anymore, hence this suggestion.
- I forgot to mention it to the other SAs before,
- I did mention it and we decided to keep them that way, or
- I promised them to come up with a better rule and then forgot about it.
The way I see it, the red highlights explicitly state that the alt account may not receive any financial benefit or funds from the main. "absolutely no financial interaction [...] for the sole purpose of funding an 'alt' account" is very explicit in my opinion.
Yet the green section explicitly allows the financial benefit of funding a rank upgrade and other "minor" things, which go against the "[...] funding an 'alt' account" rule.
Example questions I have right now thanks to those contradicting rules:Plugin or custom addition:
(Those questions don't have to be answered here; in theory they should be answered by reading the new rules.)
- Which rule has a higher priority, the explicit "absolutely no financial interaction" and "not allowed if they are financially benefiting an alt account", or the rather vague "Minor things [...] is allowed"?
- Explicit rules usually have a higher priority than vague rules because they clarify special cases, but that would mean transferring any money to an alt for whatever reason would result in a ban. In that case it doesn't make any sense to have the green rule in the first place.
- Alternatively, the green, vague rule could have a higher priority because - despite its vagueness - it describes a more specific situation than the red, explicit rules. In that case ECD transfer to an alt would be legal for "Minor things", which immediately leads us to the next question:
- What are "Minor things"?
- Am I allowed to pay my alt, then play lotto?
- I could argue that it's a financial benefit because I could win a fortune.
- At the same time I could argue that it isn't a financial benefit because the actual profit greatly depends on chance and I could lose all of it, thus not benefiting from the main account's transferred funds.
- Does it depend on the amount of money transferred?
- Paying $10k might be considered minor compared to paying $5m, but I could use those $10k in whatever way illegally "financially benefits" my alt while spending the $5m legally on an EcoLegend rank. Therefore, the amount of money transferred should be irrelevant (as only the purpose I use the money for is relevant) - but is it?
- If not having to pay for a higher rank is not "financially benefiting" or "funding" my alt account, then what is?
- What if I pay for my alt's Tycoon+ rank? Wouldn't selling the town claim to a third party for ~$200k be a very clear financial benefit for my alt?

I'm sorry if i fail to understand something, but why are we not allowed to transfer money from alts to main accounts?

I actually hope that this does get cleared up as I am very confused by this myself. I understand that no money should ever transfer from an alt to a main account for any reason (at least I think so :p ). And that no money should transfer from a main account to an alt account - except "minor" things such as a rank upgrade. Is funding a feature purchase also considered a "minor" thing. Perhaps a list of what is minor or not would help clarify this?
