While I have nothing against this suggestion, why not just look at tab?

Blue/red names are common among most servers as staff colors.

 

Pbr. To put it in perspective I'd like you to log into my fictitious server where I have my staff hierarchy set and plainly visible on tab, but it's not explained anywhere in game. If you said the people at the top of the list I would have to point out I don't organize the list. Just color code it. We could go on and on about what color is who, but the point is if you're new you don't know that. This suggestion may not be the answer, but it should be addressed.

 

/help staff does list the ranks with their respective colors. We could alias /staff to /help staff, I think that would do fine

 

In addition to the suggestion, would there be a way to automatically pm someone if they are in another server?

Like if we pm EtherialSquid and he was in VMR while we were in main with the command /pm etherial, it would not work due to the different servers- we would need to write the full name to speak with him.

Is there a way to still have communication even with just the partial name? I don't think new players know to write the full name of a person to communicate with them across different servers.

 

Unless the chat and server plugins/systems were changed in the past five months, it's currently impossible to enable a "feature" that would allow people to communicate cross-server using only a few letters of someone's username.

 

Perhaps have /staff spell out that they entire name must be typed caps and all for new players?

I personally think this is unnecessary, as you can just use tab. The staff members will be shown on top of the list so it’s easy to see if there are staff members online

 

This is basically /list for staff members which andrew has already scrapped

 

Or just cut the bullshit and bring back /list like all other servers Tab sucks.
