Saying danke is completely harmless, it doesn't matter if we're an English speaking server.

What possible harm does it cause? Most people will know what 'danke' or 'hola' mean, who cares if it's an English speaking server, we're using English for the most part. The only reason speaking other languages isn't allowed is because people won't know what you're saying, therefore it can't be moderated, no harm is caused.

 

You are right there is no harm done, but why is there any need to speak in other languages? Just use English. If you cannot speak a word of English, fine, but when you can speak English, why speak in other lamguages?

 

We speak English, why should there be any other languages added? There is no good reason. And maybe someone doesn't know what the phrase means, then you have confusion that isn't needed. That's just my opinion

 

I don't see users getting warned for this.... if they are, then I don't think the staff member is acting realistically.

Cultural and linguistic diversity is important for everyone, and while we may be an English-speaking server, we cater to players across the globe. I see nothing wrong with allowing people to speak other languages in moderation. As long as players aren't having whole conversations in global, what's the problem?

 

Its when someone uses that one word to put something nasty tat nobody actually understands/knows.
Unfortunatly there are always people on this server who pull the rules to there breaking point, I too agre that saying hola and things like that are eharmless, but unfortunately, a lot of people will abuse the 1 word rule if its implemented in my opinion.

I dont mind either way as i dont speak anything else in chat, but dont mind if I see hello in other languages.

He could argue that he is simply saying your a nice guy, but he might not be, but its 1 word

 

How would you know its a bad word though?

He could be saying:

@UnitedStates2 your simpatico
or
@UnitedStates2 , your so alegre
or
@UnitedStates2 , your so trabajador

These are all just spanish, but im sure some people not from English speaking backgrounds can confirm that the probably have some phrases that are not defined in english as one word and are native phrases.

By the time mods go to look up what they are actually saying, the convosation would have gone and you wouldnt know if they have insulted you, complimented you or what.
This doesnt come under harassment either as someone just saying in the open you name followed by a word or phrase doesnt count as harassment, as long as its not a constant thing.

Could just be a one time thing, making it not break either harassment or language rules (as long as your rule is implemented of allowing one word of non english)
