The forums are pointlessly filled with sections no one ever uses. I'm suggesting to clean up the forums a little in an effort to make sure newer players aren't confused by the large number of forums and subforums which make them unsure of where to post, have their threads get less attention and above all, just to add a little cleanliness to the forums.

- Remove the skins/texture pack section. It's never used and just serves as a host of threads to necro.

- Get rid of the introduce yourself subforum and just use the general section. It's rarely ever used and doesn't get much attention. The community shouldn't be pushing new users into an entirely separate subforum anyway; It feels unwelcoming.

- Merge the mining world section wth the Aether & Nether section to create an "Other Worlds" section. The Aether & Nether forums are rarely ever used, so merging it with a section actually used to make an "Other Worlds" section seems fitting.

- Merge the pictures section and the videos section to create a "Pictures and Videos" section or a "Media" section. These two forums go together as media and are rarely ever used. Merging them will add a bit more use to the section.

 

Pushing users into a whole other subforum burried under a forum feels unwelcoming to newer users. We shouldn't be overwhelming them with the large amount of forums and subforums we have to the point where they have no idea where to post their threads. Simplicity is key. Make it too complex/overwhelming and you'll drive new players away.

Not only that, but also as the "Introduce Yourself" threads are burried under those forums, they naturally get less attention. New players should get lots of attention from the community as it feels welcoming to them, making them think "Wow! This community is so welcoming and friendly, I might just stay!".

As much as the layout of a forum can seem unimportant, it can have a sizable impression on newer players.
