Suggestion:
when magic items break, they should release some xp. When you accidentally over use an item, or armor breaks, a small release of xp based on the power of that item could then be released.
Reason:
1) it would be awesome. 2) its a small consolation prize to players who broke their item. Such as an Eff7 3) makes battling with other players more interesting in an arena setting 4)Gives more value to junk items from fishing, and encourages the use and then purposeful destruction of low level magical treasures to harvest a few exp orbs.
Other Information:
I am uncertain how this can be achieved, or what system would be needed to detect the relative strength of enchantments.
